Today I went to my first real model show after 30+ years of modelling!

It was the Spartanburg Scale Modelers show in Greenville, SC.  The number of models in the competition was a bit disapointing.  Lots of armor, but not that many aircraft and only 3 whifs in the "Humor" category.

The one whif that caught my eye was this "Phantom Hog" (or Phog as I called it).  No idea who built it but it's a nice looking kitbash.

Less dissapointing was the vendor area.  As I said, this is the first time I've ever been to an event like this since they tend to be fewer and further between for us colonial builders that the British contingent who seem to make a mass migration from show to show every other week!  ;D

Anyway, I went in thinking I deserved a treat, so I would spend about $75 and hoping I would get 7-8 kits.  Boy was I in for a shock!

I spent $70 and got this pile of styrene!

Pretty good result I thought!

Some of the better deals I got:

Airfix 1/48 Lightning, unopened-$18
Matchbox 1/72 Lightning-$1
Hase 1/72 F-20, unopened-$5
Esci F-27 Troopship-$5
Fujimi 1/72 F-4M-$5
4 Tamiya rattlecans-$8
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

That Phog kind of looks like an Aero L-29 on steroids, nice spot!

Some nice kits you've found there.  Notice you didn't put the Strikemaster on the 'better deals' list Nick & I hope you didn't pay too much for it as Airfix have just re-released it.... (Runs for cover).
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The Strikemaster was a really good deal-Free!

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Can't really get a better deal than a freebie.

Being a small country can have some very good advantages on the model show front LOL

Good haul BTW :)
I always hope for the best.
