Well its spring time and the Nimrods been built so come Easter i thought another scratch build was in order.  <_<

One of my long term favourites dating back well over 25 yrs and i have finally built one in 1/72.....

Blackburn P139 Carrier based AEW aircraft to replace the Gannet AEW using the front and aft scanners now associated with the Nimrod AEW Which also dates back to the same period in 1966)

Basis is a pair of 1/144 Airfic DC-10's, Airfix F-111E wings, Tornado tail fin and lots of bits from the spares box together with the usual copious amounts of plastic card, milliput and putty.

hope you like it so far, just a bit of TLC required and a primer blast to see the gaffs, then its on to deciding the colour scheme

Cheers

Amazing build Geoff. Yet again your skills as a scratchbuilder shine through.  Looking forward to seeing this one finished

That's some magnificent work, Geoff and the name Puffin certainly fits! Mr Howling Mouse will be speechless with delight when he sees that lovely T-tail.

Nice one, mate!

Ain't that just the cutest little thing.  All fat and cuddley...

Good job on the scratchbuilding/kit bashing.  It really looks like the drawings.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

What an absolutely likeable airframe....and not only because she sports a T-Tail.

This was a real aircraft?  Borders on the look of one of those Hasegawa Egg-plane models.

I have to go look this up, now.

Looking good Geoff,

Nailed the look of the thing to say the very least.

Mr Mouse, it was a project for the RN, in fact I did a profile of one, although I called it an Albatross for the Falklands some time ago.

Looking great as ever Geoff - given Martins comment about the size, in the next set of pics could you put it next to a suitably sized model for comparison?

I'll see what i can do Nev although there is a 30cm ruller shown at the lower edge, but being steel the numbers dont show well on camera.

It actually about S-3 Viking sized or rather a tad smaller as it had to fit British carriers.
