I just happened across this listing - looks like a lot of kitbashing potential. Check out the Alaska conversion with a flightdeck(?), 6 V-2s, and Triton SSMs...

I understand they have a Montana book as well, but it didn't get favorable reviews. Looking around, there' a 1/700 Alaska, but at $70 on sale that's a tad pricey for me. I really like the V-2 armed Alaska, but being WIF there's no reason not to do a similar Iowa out of one of the many available cheap kits...

OK, I have to amend my previous entry.  This booklet is NOT worth $24.11!!  Ok, $15, maybe, but outside of a few paintings which are nice, there's not a lot of info, and only brief descriptions and a few side sketches, most of which can be found in Friedman's Battleship and Cruiser books (with tons more information) from Naval Institute Press.  This book doesn't have a few sketches that I know exist elsewhere (found in Garzke Dulin's Battleship book also from Naval Institute Press).

The book is only 24 pages, with 16 pages for Iowa conversions (12 variants briefly discussed, 8 line drawings, 7 paintings) and 6 pages for Alaska conversions (4 variants, 3 line drawings, 3 paintings), with 1 page of stats per ship each.  There's five pages of index and preface, with seven pages for bibliography, author's note, and advertising for other "Nimble Publishing" things.  Then there's an additional seven blank pages at the end of the book!

It's a nice little book, well put together, a little light on the content, but it's really overpriced!  Heck, the booklet on the Montana is priced at about what this one should be at!
