Whiff porn was on tv just now, a special 2 hour episode of History Channel's "Dogfights" series, this time with hypothetical battles between fourth and fifth gen jet fighters.

I missed the first half but I've seen(which i think included J-10s and Eurofighters :banghead:)

JSFs vs MiG-35s

Rafales vs Su-30s vs Boeing 767(WITH LAAASERS)

F-22s vs Su-47s

Scramjet spaceplanes vs Scramjet spaceplanes

Just caught the first half, still no Typhoons or J-10s

But holy crap... B-1Rs(with V tails!) :o, Rafales armed with R-77s, and Raptors performing Pugachev's Cobra!

Does someone here work for the history channel?

I'm sorry that I missed this, as it looks like they're not showing it again anytime soon.  They are perfectly happy to sell me the DVD for $29.95, though.

It was re-shown last weekend. Excellent - that B1-R really looked sweet

Yes, certainly an interesting program. I do have to say though, it is horribly pro-american. Its as if they made up the B-1R just to make sure the USAF wins. And if the USAF has B-1Rs, why cant the opposing forces have Tu-160s armed with missiles? And where is the PAK-FA? A PAK-FA would make the fight between it and the F-22 equal.

Shasper

What did you expect trip-7? it was made in America by an American production firm.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the production funding came from the likes of Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Good sales promotion

According to who? Venik at aeronautics.ru "Master of Plasma Stealth" or the 'still livin in mum's basement' boys over on AboveTopSecret?
As it stands, going by the informed speculation on the Secret Projects forum; Sukhoi is working on a prototype, the design is smaller than the F-22, it won't supercruise, the "new" engine won't be ready until 2015 at the earliest and any service entry is somewhere between 2020 and 2025. All of which puts any dogfights between the F-22A and the PAK-FA well into the realm of science fiction.

As to the program, personally I don't watch the Dogfight series because I don't find it at all entertaining, and in case you didn't realize it that's all these shows are for... entertainment. So I wouldn't take any of it seriously. Trust me, a Chinese or Russian produced version would be just as slanted, its human nature.  :banghead:
