Oh hell, just show your wife this and she'll love you all over again.  When you start counting in terms of how many buildings your stash requires, that's when you know you have a little problem...

Why do we do it?

Because we're going to build them all, one day ;)

And like ysi says, the thrill of opening a new model box.

Yeah! that bit is the best, when you get a new model in the mail   ;D

Perhaps we could do a GB were the winner is the person who empties the largest percent of his stash :drink:

Yes its fun to open up the box of a new kit and look at the contents but that is not why I bought so many kits the last few years. After my divorce nine years ago I had hardly any extra money to spend on fun things like our hobby. I was a single parent and I needed all my income just to scrape by, now that the kids are grown up and out of the house I had for once some spending money so I started to slowly build up a stash of kits in case bad times come upon me again. I now have enough kits to keep me building for years and its a good thing because I just learned my employer will be leaving the area, no timeline as to when this will take place but if I should be forced to take a low paying job somewhere at least I will still be able to stay in the hobby without running out of kits to build, buying new paints and glue would still be needed from time to time though.

Too many is when you open a box in your stash and theres two kits in it and you think, I didn't know I had that....

Well, I've only got about 100 or so in my little stash, but then I tend not to buy just any old thing. I tend to be a bit targeted when it comes to my purchases, having said that though I am not averse to the odd impulse buy. Althoguh I do get 'stash envy' at times, especially when I see things like Jeff's walk in stash!! Ah well, I suppose it's nopt what ya got but what you do with them I suppose...

The only problem with that is, it would automatically be won by one of the members whose stash numbers less than twenty.  Just think, when I first started hanging out here in 2004 (or was it '03, I forget), I was one of those.  I came here with, I think ten kits, if that many.  Now I probably have eighty, not counting anything that's  in the mail.

Perhaps we could start a support group for all of those that are feeling guilty about having numerous kits in their closet or basement that remain unbuilt.

I started giving my kits to the local club, and modelers who just don't have the funds to buy their own. Yeah, 50 or so kits is nothing to worry about.
