I hope this does not spoil someones DH GB later on in the year, or better still, it may make someone want to do a better job than that which will be following.

Read on.....

I've been thinkinking about doing a WW1 'enhancement' for a while now, and the look of pusher aircraft has always appealed. This lead me to the DH-2, the first 'purpose built' fighter of the war no less, and to a fairly 'believeable', back story.

Because of this, i thought about the parts i'd need. Firstly a bigger engine, a nice big fat radial with a 3 or 4 blade prop.  and  some weaponry.

Looking through my kits i had a couple of unbuilt P-47's, Result. But no,  i already had plans for these for my wargaming, but the P-47 looked to be the one to chop.

I went out to get myself the cheapest P-47 i could, which turned out to be the Heller kit, so having handed over my £2.50!, i rushed home to get chopping. To my dismay the engine is a 'front half' mould onto a bulkhead, aargh!

Back to the shop and there it was. The Revell P-26 'Peashooter', and it has spats, which may or may not be used. (Some of you will be getting a bit excited now. You know who you are...)

First job was to get the P-26 engine to fit the existing  bodywork, and for the P-47 prop to fit in the given space in the wings. Engine fine, but the prop.  needed about 8mm taking out of the middle of each blade. This was easy enough to do, but what surprised me was how easy it was to stick it all back together. (see pics)

I've just seen the Eduard 72nd and 48th kits. They both have a 4 blade prop. and the kits are gorgeous.

I feel sick. :banghead:

Once again whifftastic Mr. Tank. You must use the spats. they are just too appropriate. Try to get that engine cowling off the peashooter in there too.

That's some great work on the prop and yes, I'm very excited to see where this is headed!

I totally agree with our friend the tool slinger and think you should keep the Peashooter cowling and the spats!

My heart beats faster just thinking about it...
