I thought you guys might appreciate an update. It took me two evenings to get to this point. The top wing isn't actually attached. It's just resting (like a dead Norwegian Blue). To give you an idea of the scale, the top wing is 5 inches (or 13 cm) long.

My original plan was to build a frame for the fuse out of sprue, but the sprue was too thick and the breadclips seem strong enough without an internal structure. There's still some more work to be done, but you get the idea. The only parts that aren't breadclips are the landing gear, interplane and cabane struts and the radiator on the nose. The tail struts and even the landing skid were made from breadclips. I'm also going to add a propellor, a couple of guns, the exhaust and a windscreen on the finished model and maybe some underwing bombs.

WOW Brian! It looks fantastic, it reminds me of the all metal Junkers J.1 with a little Pfaltz thrown in.

Half the time I'm bustin' my head on the wall with a Tamiya in a desperate attempt to get something to work out properly and you come along and do THIS with BREAD-CLIPS?!?!

Man, is my daughter ever going to be impressed!

And, on a related note: did you know those plastic bread-clips were invented by a Canadian?

I take it back - to reflect the sheer inventiveness I think the Bristol Breadclip must now be the most appropriate name. ;D ;D

OK.  I'm impressed. That looks really good.  And I thought it was just another half-baked idea when you started.

I go off-line for a couple of weeks, and you kids start working magic?!

Brian, this is very creative, out-of-the-box thinking and raw, sheer fun!!

I keep failing miserably trying to picture you having a blast with your inventions. Should have a photograph of you widely grinning while perpetrating this modeling feat.

Ok, enough writing, I'll go back and stare more and more into this piece of art.

Okay, we're waiting to see paint!  Maybe the Wonder Bread style of brightly colored polkadots against a white background?

Oh....there's me coat.

It's all painted and now I've got to sort out the decals and attach the top wing. When I told my girlfriend I was ready to mount the upper wing, she told me to be careful and not to hurt myself.
