That's just freaky enough to be perfectly plausible.

Makes me think that scheme would look right at home on an alien UFO, too.

Well I got a new air brush, a double action, now I know what that means. >:( It means I have no effin painting skill :banghead: :banghead:
Actually I like the way it works but this will be a huge learning curve

I tried freehand and that didn't work out for crap

OH well tomorrow I try masking again :banghead: :banghead:

You've got more courage than I do. I've used my A/B once. One day soon, I will feel your frustation. ;D

Nah, you've got painting skill but you're right: there is going to be some learning curve.  I'm still on that curve, too.  When I see the talents of other airbrushers, it partly inspires me with aspirations while simultaneously making me feel somewhat hopeless.  I've learned that a lot depends on the airbrush itself (there are some really cool but really expensive brushes and accessories out there to maximize control) and the paint mixture, not to mention the various operational skillsets involved.  But, hey, you didn't start off as a pro with half the tools or techniques you have since mastered in your construction role but look at what you can accomplish now.  I look forward to seeing your progress on this learning curve.  At least you've taken the first steps.  Now, convince Eddie to get over his Airbrushaphobia too!

sotoolslinger.  The Bushmaster is coming along nicely.

JHM & Eddie, too.  Com'on guys.  There is only one secret to getting good with an airbrush -- PRACTICE!   Get it out, hook it up to an air source and spray some paint.  Use some inexpensive model.  You don't even have to assemble it, just take a wing or fuselage and start spraying.  Or get some sheet styrene and practice on that. Some things I recommend include setting your air pressure at about 20 psi and leaving it (if you have a regulator otherwise, just use what your compressor puts out).  Pick one type (& brand) of paint and stick with it. Mix your paint 60% to thinner 40% and start there.  Now the only variable left is your finger on the trigger.  The key is to minimize the number of variables that you are working with as you start.  Once you get a good feel for using the trigger and the results you can get, then is the time to try changing one of the other variables.  It also might help keeping notes of the variables and the results as you practice.  It can make it easier to duplicate the same results later.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

I was going to mask off and repaint the entire plane but I masked and painted on a pattern of Sac Bomber tan ( which is green for some reason) and it looks so good I think I'll leave it.

Also I found  that if you forget to mask of the undersides it's instant weathering :banghead: :banghead:

Looking good!!!

The thing with airbrsuhes is that practice makes perfect.

Considering your build rate that should not be a problem. ;D

Guys, my good friend Sisko is absolutely right.... nothing and I do mean NOTHING is as useful as practice - a good mentor comes-in second (I was lucky enuff to have Dork the Kit Slayer to teach me). Folks here have said nice things about soem of my paint-jobs - and I always say thanks for that - but trust me I never, never stop learning..... I have had various airbrushes since the late eighties but only in the last four or five years have I been brave enuff to attempt freehand mottling - and never yet to Matrixones' standard.

Believe me It's a constant learning curve, yes it gets less steep, but you never really come-off it !

Anyhoos...... keep the pics coming STS.

Oh yes, BdaB you were righter than me - I said DEI AF, of course it should have been NEI AF :banghead: - My bad.
