This is the Finemoulds R2Y1 built oob but with grey undersides rather than that orange the Japanese seemed to paint most of their prototypes in. I started this one a few months ago, but put it to one side. At the moment im also working on a few other Japanese whiffs, so i dug it out again an bolted it togeather. Basic kit but not a bad one, not much room up front for nose weights, you need to be creative in how u ballast this thing. I have a few more of these in the stash, at least one will I hope be done as the R2Y2 jet powered attack bomber version.

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Darn! A man who builds faster than me! (this is my record)

Nicely done sir!
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Sweet , man I wish I could do that. What the heck is that Japanese prototype. I thought it was a Fisher Eagle when I first saw it.

The Japanese prototype is the Yokosuka R2Y1 Keiun long-range recce aircraft.
It was powered by an Aichi (Ha-70) 10 24-cylinder engine made up by coupling together two Aichi Atsuta 30 inverted V-12 engines.
The design was modified to become the unbuilt R2Y2 turbo-jet powered attack bomber.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

heres the others ive been working on the last few day.

Manshu Ki-98 built oob from the A&V resins kit

Kyushu J7W2 jet Shinden. from the rare (in the UK at least) jet J7 kit from Hasagawa

All three Nips togeather

and lastly a real world one for my IPMS branch display for this years SMW.
The Pavla Douglas O-46. somthing a little differnt for me.

This is a god awfull kit, very little fits were it should. It very nearly hit the wall at high speed a few times, im still not happy with it, but its got to a state were its just about passable.
I always hope for the best.

Resin kits!  You're a braver modeller than I, Martin.
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Martin H

brave?  nah mate, all depends on whos kits your working on, and how old they are. The more recent offerings comeing out of the czech republic could give Tamigawa kits a run for their money, were as the older kits tend to only need a bit more in the way of prep work, and maybe a bit more filler/putty
I always hope for the best.
