Been watching this GB since it started and as I`m partly to blame-

"Who would be up for the Flying Sorcery GB"
"This is one I've been thinking about in the back of my mind for a little while ever since I got Bill Rose & Tony Butlers Secret Projects: Flying Saucer Aircraft.  And then I saw HOG's wonderful German WWII saucer & it came to the forefront of my mind again."

I thought I`d better join in. Been a bit stuck for ideas but on Friday I was given a replacement appliance by the doctor and as the Broken Headphones bashes seemed to work, I thought I`d give it a go with a bit more personal trash.



This is a thing in which I have to stick capsuals in and suck like crazy to get the powder into my lungs to help with breathing. (hands up those that when I said appliance thought the worst) It`s got unusual shapes, it`s redundant and it`s free.



Anyways this is it broken down into it`s individual parts plus the top from the new one (hope the doc`s not a whiffer) and who knows where I go from here.

Just a thought. Building this, from a medical object, is only confirming a lot of my friends ideas that I really must be sick to make the models I do. ;D

Huzzah! This proves I am not the only man to build things from inhalers! Previously I have used 'flixotide' (I think) inhalers donated by a friend to build a Hoth style generator for Warhampster 40,000. Very interested to see what this turns out like.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Enjoying the experience of random glue and stick for a change. I had a fairly good idea of how this was going to go before I started and here we is so far.

Now for a prolonged session off SosO (slap on sand off) and will probably listen to Zoso, haven`t heard the Death Wish II soundtrack for a while. Funny, I often don`t mind sanding sessions, some people seem to hate it. I wonder if theres a market for taking in other peoples sanding like they do ironing. ;D

Been watching re-runs of DS9 Gary??? :thumbsup:  I love the way you take every day objects & turn them into something new, looking forward to seeing how this one ends up!

That does look awfully Defiant-ish, though to my eyes the ends are reversed.  It's HOG's model, though, so what he says goes.

BACK STORY
Back in the early days of 2000ad comics was a story of Britain invaded. There was an illustration of an aircraft that had a Harrier style nose and the fuselage looked like a dirigable ballon. This idea has stuck with me since then and now I have the excuse to build it with this GB.
This model floats (pun intended) with the idea that the `wings` are containers for a lighter than air gas that provides the lift for the aicraft. Also are internal compessors and containers to compress this gas so as to control lift/descent. As the lift is pre-provided engines are now just there for movement and are therefore smaller and more economical than at present. These engines are able to ingest more denser mediums than air and so provide thrust in or under the water, the internal gasses providing bouyancy or lack of it depending on the compression status.
The tail structure at the rear is cruciform in shape with the vertical `rudder` providing some control left/right while the horizontal planes work in the up/down movement of the craft.  At the `wing`tips are four jets on each side to assist in more violent manouvers e.g front jet left and back jet right would spin the aircraft on it`s axis in a turning movement or upper right and lower left would induce a roll. These jets can be used in any combination to assist in manouvering.
At the front are five openings, the central for liquids. the two at either side for air and the upper two for brakeing allowing whichever medium the craft is in to slow the forward motion. and a central eflux pipe is positioned at the rear

Because of the rudder post the tails in three parts and I just hope I can get it all to line up when I`ve finished the filling sanding.
This is either going to be Luft`46 or brightly coloured interplanetry survey craft

Another update on the build. When cleaning up the tail I realised I could stick the front and one back half together to help with getting a clean joint and now the tail is on but still needs refining. Am going with the idea of a survey craft and the tubes for the under cart have been fitted along with the begginings of the crew access door/airlock. Also is a plan view of the model.






Reminds me of the line in Hitchikers Guide "looks like a fish, steers like a cow"

Your all being suspiciously quiet out there, hope it still dosn`t remind anyone of the Defiant ;D.

I'm liking the look of this. You keep going. Something military would be my choice of colour scheme, just for the sheer whif-ness of it.  :thumbsup:

Defiant's out the window now Gary!  Looking at it now, the front end looks similar to the Lunar Module from UFO.  The Gerry Anderson look is a good thing!
