Considering that several variants of the Hurricane carried FOUR 20mm guns internally in the wings, a measly TWO such guns in special fairings seems a little lame, if you don't mind my saying. The Hurricane 2D carried two 40mm guns for ground attack, so there is precedent. Maybe these special fairings carried yet another set of 20mm IN ADDITION to the four in the wings (6 x 20mm altogether!).  Or are you staying with eight .303's plus the new two 20mm in fairings?

I can see the point you're making and it is tempting to really pile on the armament.

The armament I'm going with is a 20-25 mm cannon and two .50 calibre mgs in each wing. I don't want to bog and air to air machine down with air to ground weight guns. She should have her weight kept reasonable so she can keep up with the 109s and 190s. 40mm was good for tank busting, but rather overkill on air to air targets. Remember the Tempest only had 20 mm guns and she could have carried a whole lot more.

As for the pods, thats more or less to get a few extra rounds of ammo or extra fuel contained in the wing.

UpN you could get away with saying that the fairings are for high velocity 30 mm guns as they are not much bigger than 20's .... or you could go with 20mm to 1 inch cannon and .60 cal. or 15 mm guns in the wings  Or you could cheat any of these dimensions and just justify it with less or greater ammo capacity

One of the schools I work for offered me a two week intensive course to teach, so I ain't gonna say no to the money.

Hopefully I'll have another update between now and when I take a couple of weeks off in Hungary the middle of next month.

So I got the first bit of primer and paint on and really amazed to see no sign of the fuselage graft!

The painting on the spinner is still a tad rough and needs touching up, but at least you get an idea of where I'm going with it.

You might also notice that I adjusted the canopy a bit for the partially blown look rather than a full blown look, I though that might look better for the 1942-43 period.

I'm building more of a story for this particular aircraft and her place in Hurricane lore. The aircraft has officially been Chistened "Magda's Revenge" and was flown by a respected Czechoslovak air force ace and unit commander in a harrowing escape from his native land because of a plot by the Soviets, who had gained influence over military decisions in the Bucharest Alliance militaries, to have him declared a national security risk and have him removed from command ultimately to be replaced by a Soviet officer.

Lots more to it than that, but that's what I'm giving away for now...

WOW! I was about to "criticize" the "incorrect" Czech pattern of colors on the spinner. My sources had the colors for the Czech roundel as one rotates clockwise as "red, white, and blue" instead of "Blue, white, and red". I at first thought--"Oh, maybe it's Dutch without the orange center", but I was wrong there, too.

Though I am surprised that two European countries would have the same roundel scheme, it is so (at least that's what my extensive decal collection says), and I soon realized that Czech side markings always have the blue field facing forward and the red on the bottom, so there is a "mirrored" effect for each side. I was looking at the "wrong" side.

I suppose when the spinner is spinning, it is a light purple!
