1937 with the increasing popularity of inline engines throughout the aviation world the New Zealand gov't approached Holden NZ to develop a new inline engine for fighter aircraft the two stipulations were that it develop at least 1200 hp and be compatible with a high velocity 30 mm cannon being developed  by Kiwi Power and Electric.
Holden had all the research data from Europe and the US and quickly saw where aircraft engines were trending. The engine division with a long history of building hotrods and developed a 16 cylinder upright V engine displacing some 1800 ci and developing nearly 1500 horsepower.
They ignored carborators and designed the motor with hemispherical combustion chambers, 4 valves per cylinder , and direct fuel injection.
They worked closely with KP&E to incorporate engine mounts for the cannon to work with the engine so that neither would interfer with each other .
The two stage two speed turbo supercharger was built to be installed aft of the engine to allow plenty of room for the  gun and ammo.

Little more work done I repositioned the landing gear

Installed the engine(sort of) and PSR

The contra prop worked out really well for how much putty it required, note gunbarrel fairing through spinner

Would be interesting to take this concept to a wind tunnel for testing.

Well JHowlingM I  :wacko:know that planes have flown with cranked wings and forward swept wings and  v tails and ventral fins so it seems like it would work.

I changed my mind on the angle on the ventral strakes

Closer

I will angle the rearmost portion of the fuselage to match the angle of the bottom fins

OOPS forgot the cool contraprop

Comin at ya

From above

This one is coming together suprisingly well. Still lots of PSR But I was expecting a lot worse considering how I butchered those wings and tailplanes plus lengthening the  nose :banghead: but the contours fit together realy slick ;D
