From the concept posted by Jeffry Fontaine.  (My interpretation may differ slightly but it's still Jeffry's cool idea)  I had originally planned to use an F-15 but had a moment of Whifspiration so I'm on a different airframe now.

The concept illustrated:

The cockpit for starters.  Other than Jeffry (who I'm sure would know at a glance) or BriandaBasher (whom I've already told), can any of you ID the cockpit?  Extra points if you can ID the model mfg.

Effin tease,  ;D I already envy your skill, if that is 1/72 I swear I'll find my knitting needles :banghead: :banghead:

You dog !  This is going to be sooooo cool.

My bet: manufacturer is Monogram.

This is going to be cool I am sure

Well it sure as heck isn't a Curtiss Jenny. Mr Howling Mouse, I swear your one of the most talented modellers around, especially when it comes to building and detailing 'pits!

P.S. Not to fear folks, I bet it's 1/200 scale. ;)

1/350th USS Nimitz from Tamiya? asks he who is really really bad at IDing cockpits...
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

I'm not sure of the scale, though knowing JHM, it's likely 1/48.  The cockpit looks distinctly Phantom-ish, though.  Seems fitting, since the 50th anniversary of the Phantom's first flight was Tuesday.

I haven't a clue but Phantom is what came to mind for me too.

OK I gotta know, are you going to ink the patterns with a Rapidiograph pen or use zipatone sheets or something else completely different. Color me intreagued.

Okay, Mr. Fontaine, can you ID the kit from the images?
One hint: it is, in fact, 1:48.

Well since you asked nicely.  I know it is not one of the following:
F-4
F-5
Tornado
F-104
F-101
F-14
F-15
F-16

There lack of an identifiable radar screen or multi-function displays rule out the above aircraft.

The instrument panel also indicates that this is an aircraft with two engines.  The overall shape of the combing on the instrument panel has me spinning in circles.  What intrigues me is the late model MB ejection seats, this along with the faring behind the second aircrew has me stumped for the moment.  Not having immediate access to the storage unit, I am limited to my memory and keen analytic abilities which appear to be coming up short at the moment.

You're absolutely correct in your analysis so far, Mr. Fontaine.  Sorry, I did not know you didn't currently have access to the Magnum Stashus.  I have no doubt that you would have ID'd the little cockpit had you the benefit of your inventory.

ysi_maniac was close as I'm sure the pilots themselves are either Monogram or Hasegawa recastings.

This is the 1:48 AT-3 Tzu-Chiang fighter from Kiddyland in Taiwan.  Well, it should be Kiddyland, but these boxes and instructions in no way show any mfg name whatsoever!  My other Kiddyland AT-3 kit boxes all have the Kiddyland name/logo on them.  Maybe this is a recasting of a recasting?  Those silly IP-lawbreaking guys!

And, I learned the day the cockpit was completed that it is fairly impossible to close the fuselage around it!  Not just a matter of size, either.  It, well, doesn't fit...at all.  I'll go check the usual review sites for advice but it's quite disappointing as this was supposed to be a fun little quick-build followed by a camo finish dedicated to Jeffry's visionary concept.  I may yet have to resort to the original plan of doing it on a (much larger) F-15E!!!

You could always apply that camo scheme to the W.U.H. or the Top Secret Meteor Project...

I'll get me coat.

Or, you could just not install the cockpit, glue down the canopy and paint it black.  Or you could use some tissue and white glue to make a tarp and throw it over the canopy.

No paint the cockpit white.
Can't you follow direction?

Ed S

You're right.  I noticed that after I'd posted my comments.
