UPDATE:

fuselage is now complete, still need to build in the cockpit and the instruments. the wings, landing gear ans horizontal tail have now been joined, the wheels of the underwing gear have now been painted.

the front wheel was a real pain, i didnt have enough room and i didnt want to put the wheen on the tail, so it was dremel time. i removed the 2nd lover intake of the engine and turned the hole into a housing for the front wheel.

seen here on the pics is the aircraft on support beams while the gleu and paint are drying. dont worry, the canopy is not glued on, its just resting on the cockpit to give you a vission of what im planning to build  ;D. the 2-bladed prop has now been replaced by a 4-bladed one from a 1/72 airfix fairey firefly (witch didnt have a canopy)

tonight im just gonna carve out the 2 tailplanes and the little LERX wings for under the tail, i still havent decided on the winglets  but i'll be thinking of it tomorrow
as for a paintjob, i was thinking a high-visibility yellow/red like the current SF.260D/M's

That's some mighty fine progress, Nils! Looks like you're on your way to building a crackerjack of an entry!

Nice idea Nills; Although a small remark, To me it looks like either the canopy is oversized or the wings are to small for this aircraft. Just my 2 €cent though

UPDATE:

last night i made some new tailplanes for the ST-1, but what bothered me was that the tail seemed a bit small, so i removed it and made a new larger one. just for looks i installed an underbelly tailfin. a first test layer of yellow was also been applied to see how wel the plane will go with the planned color scheme.

i to have noticed that, thats why this morning i made some modifications to it. i made some cuts in the front and i extended the  rear of the canopy. although on the pics the canopy seems gappy, the fitting is actually much better then it looks.

picture time again, today i plan to work all day on the cockpit

just to give you another idea, this is the color scheme i was talking about

That's just killer, Nils! I really like your modifications and the color scheme you're going for! That's got to be one of the hottest schemes out there!

final update for today, all the parts have now been put together and the first parts have now been painted and decaled. still some parts arround the canopy have to be repainted as some traces of filler are still visible. the insides of the geardoors also need some paint, im thinking gunmetal. should be ready for presentation tomorrow afternoon, i think ive done enough for today, up to now it turned out beter then i expected
the only setbeck from the decals is that one of the serials (from a P-80 decal sheet) was a little worn off , but once the paint is completly dry, i'll use an CD marker pen to fill up the gaps

FINISHED  :thumbsup::

the paintjob is complete and i added some more decals (including warning markings from varrious kits)
this will now be my 4th and final entry for the GB. i still have 3 more T55 engines from a scapped 1/72 C-130J, and i already have plans for another turboprop aircraft  ;D

this was the first time i build a scratchbuild aircraft in 1/72 scale, it was really fun and challenging. here are the final pictures, just for the occasion, i brought out my tarmac mousemat and backdrop

Looks good Nils; although I still have my doubts about the canopy. A bit oversized to my liking.
But other than that, nice job
