That's all I have. BIG THANKS to sotoolslinger, Sentinel Chicken, RotorheadTX and Roger the Cabin Boy for making this a great showing of Whiffery in DFW!

The Rat

Quote from: Sentinel Chicken on May 31, 2008, 09:23:17 PMThe stuff on the Whiff Table I'm sure caused many a JMN to suffer a migraine, perhaps a blown anuerysm.

And that's a good thing!

More reportage , sorry I had some kind of mixup with my camera and downloading to my photobucket so no more  pictures :banghead: :banghead:I did have a very good time though. I very much enjoyed meeting Roger the Cabinboy, Sentinal Chicken (and crew),Scooterman, and Rotorhead. Rotorhead effin cleaned up in the judging , he was carrying an armload of trophies out.
I added many, many, kits to the stash , prices were awesome  there was a table with maybe 300 1/72 kits: $2.00 a piece.
Wish I could work in that scale but you can see from the group picture why I don't. I can just barely fit aroun I/48's
I did clean up on kits though, The Chicken Works  table had many cool old kits so I got the Typhoon and Hellcat kits which are sized to be able to do GTX'S cool profile.
I also got another Shinden kit to which R the Cabinboy commented that even I should be able to build that on OOB. ;D I had to explain that that was the second Shinden I had bought this week because I have 2 different kitbashes planned(one inverted gull wings and another with twin boom tail)
As to the JMN'S I decided to enter 2 models to the competition , the P-55 F and the F-5 V .After explaining to the entry officials what they were and how they were built I was entered into a catagory; was it Luft 46, was it experimental and proposed aircraft, was it science fiction??? No they put me in miscellaneous mechanical, with guillotines and oil derricks    Catagory 802 , so when the judging commenced I waited, and waited cause they of course started in the 100's. At the end of the judging no one had mentioned the catagory. I grabbed a judging sheet with all the different catagories and looked it up, 802 was listed as something to do with Star Wars, the entry officials and the judges apparantly had different forms
I grabbed an entry form to join the IPMS but I have second thoughts.I'll join Scooterman's local club but I'm not sure about the IPMS.
I did buy some kits from Scoot's club to support the whiffers. ;D
I amuse me.

Nice display lads and glad you upset a few JMNS in the process .

You realise the scary part is the SIG displayed on two different continents in the same weekend ......

Not bad for a a fringe SIG eh

THIS is a stash!   RtCBs haul on the left, mine on the right.

Good lord... your haul is larger than my entire stash!

...PW=stashing neophyte...
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Nice show guys.  I loved the bomb bay.

The Dora is also a 1/35th scale model.

Liked the Mak stuff.  Any pics of the other sci fi stuff?

Now we have a good Whiff group in TX, a couple show up in UT, Southern California and Seattle also have pretty good Whiff out puts at shows.  Need some clubs back east.  Anyone taking the mantle at the Virginia Beach Nationals?  I won't be able to make it after going back east for my Mom's surgery and the time off for my wife's surgeries.

And Sotoolslinger, go ahead and join IPMS.  Usually a good bunch of guys.  Just put my # on the referral section so I get a 2 month extension #8739  ;D

Sentinel Chicken

I have to offer my apologies, I had some Whiff stuff that I wanted to contribute for the display including my modernized A-5 Vigilante from the PIMP MY VIGI thread a while back as well as some other 1/144 scale whiffery, but the cleaning lady got a a little too zealous in the man-toy room and I didn't have to the time to do some repair work. Ahhhhh, shuckeries I reckon I'll just have a year to fix 'em for Scalefest 2009.

Oh, and sotoolslinger is SO Texan he makes the rest of us Texans look like Oklahomans by comparison.

You all are pussies, I tried some Twiglets for the first time and they weren't all that bad. But then again, I'm Filipino and that means that as a matter of routine I eat cuisine that would literally scare the crap out of most folks' intestinal tract.

Oh great, first folks tried to sell us on Twiglets. Next it'll be balut!

Roger the Cabin Boy reporting here.  Scooterman is still pushing out the Zzzzs.

Howard - regarding the 2008 story - of late, I've been content to lurk over on the Profiles and CGI, but will try and post a little more often now.   So, making his appearance in a few days, Lt Col (Retd) Paddy Stench-Trench RAMC and the Green Bucket O' Twiglets.

RtCB! thanks. i was gonna add you to the story me'self but the LtCol is more than welcome to take part.

I'm planning on coming to the Nats in Virginia Beach, seeing as it's just twenty minutes from here.  Do I have to join IPMS to participate?

Yep, if you want to enter models.

Click on Registration for info.

They are doing Lobby displays and planning on display tables ($25.00) in the main room, however I don't know about membership requirements for that aspect.

Join for a year and then don't bother re-upping.
I've been a member off and on over the years and only 're-new' my national membership when important events are looming, otherwise I only pay dues to IPMS-Seattle as I much prefer to keep my monies local.
