72nd scale WWII era torpedoes ?

Anybody got any to spare ? or know of a kit that has multiples ? For my Stirling projects.

The only multi-torp kit that comes to mind is the Airfix SM.79 Spaverio to be honest.  Most other torpedo-bomber type kits are single items.  I think that one of the aftermarket resin mobs (CMK?) does a line of 72nd torps but they're most likely fairly pricey.

OK, got 3 torps, all different sizes.  You can have any or all.

The old Frog He-111 came with a couple and I think the Italeri version also had a couple.

Forgot about the torp Heinkel.  I wonder if the Italeri Ju-88 torpedo ship would have a pair as well?  Either which way, it's Axis for multiples by the looks.

Oddly enough, this is one detail item that is sadly missing in the aftermarket world.  Flightpath do a very nice set of a WWII British torpedo on a handling cart but it's around GBP5.00 plus Dave Parkins does not split his sets or have 'flawed' ones lying around, I know, because I've ask before

A quick rummage through my Shipping 'Kit Pics' brings up the following (all 72nd Scale):

Chrozy Modelbud Seehund (x 2 Torps)
Chrozy Modelbud Biber (x2 Torps)
CMK Type VIIC U Boat Torpedo Section (x2 Torps)
Revell S-100 E Boat (x 2 Torps)
Tamiya Vosper Perkasa (x 4 Torps)
Verlinden Seehund (x 2 Torps)
White Ensign Mark 14 Torpedo Set (x 2 Torps)

Whilst the Revell & Tamiya (& I think Trumpeter do a Perkasa 'knockoff') are full kits, I'd wager they'd more likely be cheaper than either the full resin kits or the CMK torpedo section.  No idea on the White Ensign stuff, but they are two Mark 14s by themselves.

The 1/72 Italery Ju-88 has not one, but TWO torpedoes! The Matchbox 1/72 Devestator comes with a torpedo too.

It is hard to find torpedoes...sounds like that would be a nice aftermarket niche to fill as long as you could sell a set of two for $5 or less.

Keep in mind that most of the aircraft torpedos were of a smaller diameter than the standard submarine and surface launched variety since the range was provided by the carrying aircraft.  The majority of the aircraft weapons were 18.0" in diameter.  There were exceptions such as the 22.5" diameter Mk XIII (Mk 13) torpedo used by the United States as one example.  Other nations used 16.0", 18.0", and 21.0" diameter torpedoes.  So keep this in mind when you start looking for a source. 

I beleive the torpedos that are included with the Tamiya Perkasa kit are the 18.0" diameter variety but they are quite generic with the details.  They would however pass for a standard UK aircraft torpedo if you hide them in a bomb bay.
