Bismark-Erkranoplan hybrid?

I've been brainstorming about a whiff for my Tamiya 1:350 Bismark.  The best idea so far is a super-battleship-erkranoplan hybrid.  I was going to do a "Space Cruiser Bismark" ala the Yamato in Star Blazers, but that would require WAY too much scratch building to make it look "spacey".

So, what do ya'll think?  Is an erkranoplan battleship just impossible due to the weight of the ship, or would it be possible with super-sized Jumo-004 engines ala 1943-46?

I could still whif it, but I like to have them be at least plausible....

If you're willing to "scale-o-rama" the battleship part to 1/144 scale, I think an Ekranoplan is feasible. Of course, in the end, it's YOUR fecking model!

My plans were to combine parts from my Trumpeter "Bear" and the Bismark.  The wings/engines would scale out accordingly.  Not full on long swept wings, but cropped accordingly.

Well, if you wish realism, know that a 747 masses about the same as a pre-WW2 destroyer. Bismarck would mass about 20-30 times that much.

So I say toss in some just-discovered anti-gravity mechanism, and the skies the limit!

More engines and a hydrogen gas bag. Really, really big engines, and a really, really big hydrogen gas bag. So you have a battleship/zepplion/ekranoplan hibrid. And why not?

Just researched the weight issues a bit. 

Bismark:

45,000 tons, 830 feet long.

Caspian Sea Monster:

540 tons but could lift 1,000 Tons for a total of 1,500 tons. It was 328 feet long as well.

Sounds like an Erkranoplan Bismark is quite impossible.

If you're feeling a little humbled by reality, perhaps a hydrofoil?

But really, there's something about a dreadnaught flying around at airplane speeds that is just SOOO right.

As for power plants, DB did have a large-diameter turbojet on the drawing board in the 30,000lb thrust range.

It was to have powered the parasite bomber portion of at least one variant Daimler Benz/Tank's composite bombers.

Or you could do something like the Savoia Marchetti SM 55. There was a kit out years ago (ITC? Did Glencoe rerelease it?) or you could use two big floats and with a double dose of scaleorama, make a high speed catamaran battleship (or at least a high speed dual destroyer).

There's absolutely NOTHING wrong about the original spaceship idea, but you will need to add lots under the hull, and on the hull sides....bulges, etc., and turrets. Why not buy a cheap (Airfix?) Bismark, that you can take guns turrets, etc., from. The hull of your smaller Airfix kit can become a mini-aircraft carrier/barge?

Try painting it in shades of grey/white like out of Star Wars or Star Trek?

Got my Airfix Nelson still awaiting completion, or did I diss it? Need to look. A spaceship of course.

Did a Revell RMS Emden (1/350th??) as a spaceship Wicked. dissed it now though.

I will proceed.  What the hell.  Perhaps the answer is multiple wings and jets.  Methinks 8-16 + huge jets and multiple wings......

I saw a kitbash model at a local scifi convention ten years or so ago.  Someone had bashed a 1/350 New Jersey with a 1/48 F-16.  Somehow, it just looked RIGHT.
