QuotePW: train is still progressing, it awaits paint which requires that i get home from work before sunset which has been problematic of late (even on weekends). Don't worry it will be finnished one day and we shall have a train jousting tournament

Oh you are so on! I warn you sir, I shall be using the clockwork Tram o'doom!

Since when are you a Gangsta Metalurgist? What happened to Steampink Metalurgy? Does this mean you design new materials withwhich to build bling?

HAH I fear not the clockwork tram for my train is probably heavier and has an ammazing technological advance of rubber tyres

as to the gangsta metallurgist bit; bliss n esso were guest programming rage while I was writing the post, lots of cool old school gangsta shiznit
what is this steamPINK of which you speak

JHM I fear the train may compete as it is a nuclear conversion using a stem engine as a basis and was originally intended to be hauling the railroad equivalent of a kamikaze, A thor IRBM last stage with warhead mounted on a flatbed for fast rocket powered nuclear railway suicide attacks.

PS please note that PW and I are sepperated by a considerable geological distance, a large number of IQ points and a consederable weight of puddings, hence we tend to carry on conversations in forum threads.
Normal service will resume eventually...... probably

I broke out my paint stash which didn't fair to bad considering its been rattling round in a plastic bag for 4+ years. I've finnished off the cockpit, only problem is i was impressed with my handy work to such an extent that i decided to open the canopy to show it off a bit.
I got the WSO's canopy and mid frame free but have cracked the pilots canopy and windscreen, it's still in one piece but there is a hairline runnnign fromt to rear I could proabbly get by using a bit of soft drink bottle judisously thermo formed for the canopy but the windshield is more complex. Is there any wonder technique for fixing it?

Hey, DaFrog, welcome back to the hobby, and the asylum. Your work so far has me trying to reaffix my jaw to its sockets. What scale is this F-4?. The canopy looks simply wonderful.

UUUuuumm, I love cardboard (Cardboard, Yum!!!)
OK, I know I can't stop scratchbuilding. Someday, I will build something OOB....

Scale : 1/144
It's a Heller, it's pretty average rather coarse panel lines and the bloody station keeping lights are engraved gah the bloody things would burn off at mach 3,  oh and the decal sheet is totally out of register, lucky i won't be using it then ;D)
It was dirt cheap though.
I used to like dragons offerings in the same scale (not sure if they had a phantom but i had their F15, F117, cfir and mirrage i think)

puddingwrestler

I seem to remember you having basically everything in 1/144 scale...

Word, when your young and have <$10 per week disposable income revel 1/144 kit in a bags at about the same price as a tin of hobby paint are mighty tempting (of course i did buy an airfix concorde too which you could have used as a murder weapon )

puddingwrestler

Actually, the blood-stained remains of your Airfix concord are in my spare parts draw. Just don't tell anyone!

QuoteGTX's article is pretty cool (except the picture quality) I can attache it or host it or something if its ok with him.

Will try and do a better quality scan this weekend if you like.

Greg

made a bit of progress. I have lengthened the nose by 2mm to represent the even more increased length of the nose required for the HIAC camera. The black square is actually a clear plastic bit for the camera window.
the canopy is still stuffed despite attempts to repair it.

Does anyone out there in whifland have a spare 1/144 canopy? F4 for preference of course but i think F15, F16 assorted MiG's etc etc could be OK as i only need the front windscreen and the pilots canopy. As the pilots canopy will be open I can probably cut anything down a bit and it won't be noticable.
I will of course pay or trade something PM me

Greg, better scan of the article woul be appreciated although I've already done pretty much all the RF4X mods

Thanks Eddie I'll take you up on that offer, PM sent

I actually bought a dragon  twin pack of tornados on the weekend, no phantoms being available the canopy is close enough with some mods but looks like that problem is now solved (of course i already cut one tornado canopy :banghead:).

one has this cool comemerative scheme
which may appeal to those of you whoe specialise in creative camoflage ;D

After model expo 08 I'm thinking of building it JMN superdetailed as it looks like I'm almost up to the local competition standard in 1/144, of couse newtons 3rd law of modelling dictates that there must be a equal and opposit reaction to this so I may have to used the other tornado as a scalorama'd 1/32 scale hypermanuverable dogfight missile
