Organizing the Stash

I know a guy on another forum used to cut the tops of his model boxes off and put them behind his models on the shelves.  It looked pretty cool - shame they were all Tamiya Panzers mind, the guy was a full-on nazi worshipping white supremacist, who despite being American was angry at Hitler for costing Germany the war  :banghead:

You know, now that you mention it, one of these days when I have my custom built, dedicated model room a few nice framed boxtops might be a great way to decorate.

Some of the new Italeri kits have a framable version of the box art included in the packaging, very nice idea
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Very nice idea! For some reason I'm in love with my Matchbox-RoG Mosquito boxart..........and the Hasegawa Kittyhawk III............

Our painting project was put on hold while we decide what exactly to do with this room, or whether we are going to look at taking advantage of the market and move in the near future.  If we move it will go neutral, if not then Donna has other colors she wants in there.  Unfortunately my idea of a dedicated model room has been vetoed, but for now it is where the stash is still hanging out.

I did decide (with SWMBO's prompting) that it should be a bit better organized though, so tonight while I have the house to myself I went through the stash and cataloged it.  I'm up to 290 kits, which is starting to put the value on up there a little so it's probably not a bad idea to have pics for insurance purposes.

Anyhoo...I thought I'd show off the stash properly, since we havent had a stash thread in a while.  Feel free to post your pics, and take a look at these since I may do a little thinning in the not-too-distant future.

I organized by manufacturer, or more accuratly by packager.  There are some duplicate kits that arent stored together, such as Italeri Merlin and Revell Merlin, but this way seemed to make most sense to me.

Italeri...

Logically next to Testors, since many of them are Italeri kits, then Revell Germany

...which naturally is next to Revellogram

A bigger RM stash than I though actually

Airfix Corner

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Hasegawa

AMT/ERTL/Esci

Tamiya Tower (the Nanzan is $1.99 this month at Squadron, so when I ordered some decals I couldnt resist)

Yowsa AD that makes my stash look strictly minor-league. I was pleased to see at least one spatted kit in amongst all the pointy jet-things.

AD, we must do something about that stash. Far too many jet thingies. You need to log onto Hannants an order 100 kits that all come with propellers!

OMFG, that stash is more then the inventory of my 2 LHS's put together   :o

The first step is in admitting you have a problem, AD....   ;-)

I may have it relatively easy, as my models are orgnized into 1/72-scale aircraft, and OTHERS.  I USED to organize the aircraft by aircraft manufacturer (i.e. all Hawker aircraft together) and/or blocs (like Eastern European aircraft). The stash has been riddled with sell-offs so my current "organization" is by price and size of box.  I had some 29 "large" moving boxes packed full of kits. I inventoried them about two years ago---what a painstaking job THAT was!! At least I am not paying roughly $1000 a year to store them in a "Self-Store" garage.

I **USED TO HAVE** over 2,500 models, including HO vehicles, 1/72 or 1/76 armor/vehicles (to go with a now-discarded idea of a massive diorama), small-scale ships (1/1000 or smaller, with a few 1/700 thrown in). I've pared it down to "only" about two hundred "keepers" and the rest are surplus and for sale. I will probably horse-trade the rest for a nice airbrush compressor.

Arrgh, sequoiaranger, could you please not change the title of the therad? It is really, really annoying when looking at recent threads on the frontpage.

B777LR---Hey, I'm NOT changing the title of the thread at all, just entitling MY individual post. Is your browser messed up and somehow NOT saying "Organizing the Stash" by Aeroplane Driver as the thread, as in the jpeg below??  Doesn't seem to be a problem with anyone else.

I don't want to be obtuse, but I have written into similar boards for some twelve years steady, and NO ONE has EVER made a similar objection. In fact, I find it "annoying" that so many posts on this board (and others, but not so consistently as this one) are entitled exactly alike, so that I can't find the one I want without wading through everyone else's similarly-titled post. I entitle my post as to what I'm posting about, so it is ALWAYS relevant, rather than the individual post often wandering off to other subjects, but keeping the same title. Don't you go to the "forum" and pick your topic? I do.  UNDER the topic heading of "Organizing your Stash" is my post, whatever the individual title, and those of other people..

I like to get along with others wherever I am, but I cannot in good conscience change my style for only one person.

Equally, didn't they teach elders not to talk down to kids and wayyyyyyyy over-react to a simple request?

B777 was talking about on the frontpage, where it appears that the "recent topics" down the right has the title of sequoiaranger's post, rather than the thread title.  So he thinks its a new topic, but its not.

EDIT:  or maybe not   Whatever, its not worth getting high and mighty about.
