You'd think they'd stick 'em in a hangar on a backwater airfield or something, just in case it ever hits the fan. But no, they smash 'em up and leave the bits in a heap. It's not like they're hopelessly obsolete and useless.

I suppose the same has happened/is happening to the Jags and Sea Harriers...

Here's a couple of languishing aircraft I photographed recently sitting in a lot in a suburb of Brno. I also recently found out they belong to the Brno Technical museum, so they may be in storage awaiting restoration or possibly space to be made for them at the actual museum itself.




There is also this very sad and corroded MiG-19 at the museum itself. Everytime I see it, there sems to be a new dent, hole or bit of rust on her:

Did wonder if they were some of the F-2's SERCO screwed up years back untill u pointed out the Italian markings. 

All part of the cunning plan to make sure they get as many Typhoons as posible, by removeing the hardware that the bean counters could use as an excuse to cut back even more on the new toys.
