I'm new to this forum, though I' usually on Secret Project.

OK, I was just wondering if "Final Blackout" has ever been discussed on here before. I just got done reading it.

Although, I'm not usually into Hubbard's work (or Scientology), but that novel was an excellent work of  alternate history set on the premise that WW2 went on for 30 years. It's a very good read. strangely, I got the feeling that the books regard to politics could easily aply to the current situation in Iraq. If you've read it you'll know what I mean.

And there were some treats described in the story such as an American submarine cruiser that carried VTOL fighters and advanced missile technology.

As such, I went back and made a rough timeline by plugging back details from the story. I will post it later.

But I was curious if anyone else here had done anything regarding this book.

I haven't tried to read that one since high school.  I read through the entire "Invasion Earth" saga, then Battlefield Earth, and did a school paper about Mr. Hubbard.  During the course of my research, I made the mistake of contacting the Church of Scientology, and they sent me a bunch of free material, including a copy of that book.  I wasn't into alternate history at the time, and I remember donating it to the library.  I'll have to give it another look.  Maybe the old home branch still has a copy.
