Trumpeter has 1/700 Mig-29Ks, Ka-29, and Su-25 UTGs

Skywave makes sets in 1/700 of Soviet planes in plastic and metal, many of which which I used in an earlier group build to "miniaturize" models other people built and place them on the deck of a Soviet Orel-type carrier I cobbled together out of a Trumpeter Kuznetsov and an Aoshima Kiev. White Ensign Models also has a line of 1/700 aircraft, in resin, and Aoshima make sets of USN, IJN, RN, and Soviet aircraft.

I have a Revell Graf Zeppelin (the carrier) I plan to do as a Soviet version someday.

Soviet airships why not.

I was addicted to C&C's red alert and Yuri's Revenge and they had some very funky Soviet airships in the game. I always liked playing the soviet side. Just so I could use them and the apocolypse tanks.

Well if I could find a cheap Dragon Ar234, that could find its' way into this, otherwise, an old Airfix or Matchbox Canberra, suitably altered and painted..... or maybe that Javelin that's been waving to me from the corner of the stash..... Hmmmmmmmm

I'm thinking of a Sovietised F-16.

There was a MiG project very similar to F-16. Matej iirc posted a drawing in this forum.

Would mentioned MiG project be acceptable  ?

Yes it would be acceptable.

the idea is to make something look like it was copied and built by the soviets. So any western hardware is up for grabs. It can be air, land, sea or even space. Remember the Buran the soviet copy of the shuttle?

The modifications could be as simple as different engines or nose, or they can as complex as you want.

The overriding spirit of the build is to have a soviet piece of hardware that some can look at and say, "hay that looks like a................"

The Russian Skyhawk I didn't finish for the One Week GB would fit here, I think, but I have another idea.  Rallymodeler had the idea of "What if Artem Mikoyan immigrated to Canada? and that produced some interesting results.  My idea is, "What if Igor Sikorsky stayed in the USSR?".  I've got a Lindberg HH-3 that's screaming to be re-worked into a Soviet machine from Afghanistan.

On a similar note, I asked the question in the "Different Lengths" thread, "What if Mr. Seversky went back to Russia but Mr. Polkarpov emigrated?" You end up witha very short and stubby P-47 and a seriously supercharged I-16...... ;D

You know, I've very tempted to reassign my Academy 1/144 B-58 to a Sovietization rather than the RAF one I was planning for it after reading some of this.

Its got such a Myashishev/Tupolev kind of look to it already that it wouldn't take much to get it looking properly Soviet.

One question, could we build our models in the colours of other Warsaw Pact or Soviet friendly air forces or possibly current air forces of former Soviet countries or are we stuck with having to put red stars on them?

By the way, someone on the previous page said the Soviet B-36 would be Tupolev. Honestly, The B-36 looks a bit more on the Illyushin side to me.

That was me, and you know the more I think about it the more I tend to agree.

I had an idea this morning about fitting the russian 152.4mm ML-20S gun to the hull of a german E-10 or E-25 on the theory that the russians over ran the factories and shipped everything to the soviet union and started building their version of them.
