no, but Comrade Stalin WOULD like the Imperial Guards being Red, and that their starfighters are Red, but yes, there must be more Red in the Empire!  Red Star Wars!

im thinking, maybe i should also build sovietized versions of the more smaller planes like the Cessna O-1 and redesignate them as a Yakolev YAK-14

or a sovietized U-2, ik the lines of the YAK-25RM Mandrake spyplane  ;D
maybe after Gary Powers was shot down in his U-2, Myasishev used the wreckage to reverse engineer it, the M-20  ;D

Nah, slow piston STOL aircraft is the realm of Antonov ;D

I might suggest an addendum to the rules, that Soviet Satellites are allowed for markings in this GB, including Alt-History ones such as the British People's Republic.  Just a thought, it would make to allow for additional markings thoughts for some of our comrades.

Sounds like a good idea, mix it with elements of the O-2 to create something along the lines of the MiG-8 Utka.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

This is great! Can not wait until February 1st

One variant that Vought proposed for the Cutlass was with a Nene engine.   One could take the Lindberg XF7U-1 and a Hobbycraft retooled MiG-17 and have an afterburing, Nene Kutlaski.    T-tail instead of tailless design.

Find out what the Russian name for a Cossack sword is and call it that (as an unofficial nickname, of course). It would make sense to assign it to the Cheranovskiy bureau, who produced several studies along these lines. If it was as much of a pain as the real Cutlass, the BICh-prefix would be appropriate too!  ;D

Actually, that's got me thinking: you must be able to do something BIChy with a Skyray.......

Both of these sound good to me, I'm a big fan of BICh's!

Err - - this was actually done in the real world, as the Beriev S-13, which was to have been as close a copy of the U-2 as possible.

Design was begun in August 1960 and a mock up completed on 1 April 1961 (yes, I know the date is suspicious, but it's apparently genuine). First flight was planned for mid 1962 but the whole project was cancelled in May 1962.

Details in "Soviet X Planes" by Gordon & Gunston and in Russian Language "Samolyetii TANTK G.M. Beriev" by GS Panatov.

I like the comment 'from the top you can see right across the mega city' - Mega City One takes up the WHOLE FREAKIN' EAST COST OF AMERICA!
It's never really specified, but I always imagined that BritCit (England's answer to Mega City One) takes up the whole UK...
And yes, the Soviets have thier own glorious mega city! And thier own sovietized judges, who look sinister and do not have those huge eagle shoulder pads. I have the comic in question somewhere, it's part of the time when Dredd was appointed marshall of the moon settlements...
So, I guess sovietized Judges would count, if anyone feels like converting a Judge Dredd figure...
Heck, Let's sovietize the USS Enterprise while we're at it! Commerade Captain Kirkovich demands for Alien Commerade Spock to activate glorious people's transporter beam!

Way back in the late 80's I actually built a Sov Block Flying V from the Apocolypse War dredd story. Built it from Balsa and plastic but I was young and just didn't have the skills I have today. If only I had kept it and not thrown it out. I should look at building it again.

Actually Mega City one did cover the entire eastern seaboard of the US. Until half of it was obliterated in the opening barrage of the war.

I also like the tanks in that story to.

Well I am so overwhelmed that people have already swung into action so quick, I havn't started on anything as yet. That will teach me to go off drinking the weekend just gone  :drink:

Yes it will, there's more than enough of us Sovietski out here just chomping at the bit for a chance to unite for the greater good of the modeling world!

Erm by the way, according to the Board Header, the GB doesn't actually start until Feb 1st...... :o :banghead:

Yes it would be acceptable.

the idea is to make something look like it was copied and built by the soviets. So any western hardware is up for grabs. It can be air, land, sea or even space. Remember the Buran the soviet copy of the shuttle?

The modifications could be as simple as different engines or nose, or they can as complex as you want.

The overriding spirit of the build is to have a soviet piece of hardware that some can look at and say, "hay that looks like a................"

If Izdeliye 33 can be considered as a soviet copy of F-16, can S.37 be accepted as a soviet copy of BAe P.96? Note that size is different but layout is exactly the same.
