Well, since NAA is verified as having done preliminary layout work on a R2800-powered P-51 version, how about one with a R4360 and an extended rear fuselage (say from the F-82) for wieght and balance purposes?

Now there's an idea     Are there any 3-views of the R-2800 P-51 Evan?  But what about an F-82 with R-4360's anyway?

BTW, collecting bits and info to make an 'In service' Goodyear Corsair

What scale?  I have a 1/72 kit of one in the stash made by Xotic Kits and I believe MPM or Special Hobby do a 1/72 kit too.

Can you post shots of sprues, please?

I'll have to try and find it Carlos, I got all the boxes in from the container which have my stash in but which box it's in I don't know.

Not really meaning to butt in, but in an Air Enthusiast from about 7 or 8 years ago, there are drawings & info on I believe some NAA R-1830 powered P-51H proposals & sometime back, somehow I got a 3 view of an R-2800 powered P-51D proposed by John Crocker (or is it Cocker?) for air racing. I, too would like to see NAA's R-2800 info.

I lucked out Carlos, second box I looked in.  I can't remember though if the large bits were on a sprue, I've been fondling plastic I think  :

I may be in error there as to the engine, but I believe Scott had something on it in one issue of APR.  On the racing side, I will admit to some doodles of a F-82 re-engined with R4360s and cut-down, or otherwise streamlined, canopies.

Just an outre thought, how about a Fw-190D or Ta-152 airframe with a R4360 installed?

IIRC, BMW made a 4-row radial similar to the -4360, the 802 maybe.

BMW 802 was a two-bank 18-cylinder radial.

BMW 803 was the 28-cylinder engine and weighed a whopping 6,490 lbs, a good 3,000 lbs heavier than a basic R-4360. :o

How about a Tempest or Sea Fury?  The extra power might need some airframe changes, but should give some extra grunt.

There are some Reno Air Racer Sea Furies using the R-4360 & other than the forward fuselage & racing mods, I don't tink the result would be much different that having a Corsair go from F4U to F2G.

Why is the XP-69 included? It is (well, was supposed to be) a large fighter, but not R-4360 powered & really didn't even have a 'big' engine, only 2160 CID, I guess about the same a R/R Griffon & also comparable power. It may have had 42 cylinders, but at 2160 cubes, they weren't big.

High Planes do a number of Sea Fury Reno Racers Simon, got a few of the kits myself.

Sea Fury 'Furias' uses the R4360 but 'Critical Mass' uses the R3350.  IIRC they use four blade Douglas Invader props
