You wouldn't happen to have a slightly larger version of the profile view here. I'm curious as to know what the dimensions pictured are.

Sorry - no higher resolution.

Skyranger could also be mounted on the Piranha/LAV III. Control centre was in a separate LAV (ditto missiles).

Since the Skyshield system is essentially what the Gepard is, is this offered as a replacement?
It's a crappy self-made pic of a Lockheed Unmanned Combat Armed Rotorcraft (UCAR), BTW

The way I understand it, Skyshield started it's life as a stationary air defence system, with the ability to intercept incoming mortar rounds. The weapon system itself is unmanned. Sort of like a ground-based Phalanx. So these vehicle-borne systems seem like spin-offs. Systems you'd acquire if you intend to use the stationary unit as well (cutting down on logistics) or if your army doesn't have a system like Gepard. I reckon the turrets carried on vehicles will also be unmanned, with the crew sitting in the hull of the vehicle.

Skyshield and Gepard use the same basic weapon systems, and IIRC, share much in the way of sensors and fire control as well.

Not really. They're totally different systems (despite the loose Oerlikon armament connection).

Skyshield began with Oerlikon Contraves but uses the new 35/1000 gub based on the Millenium 35mm Naval Revolver Gun System (the gun sometimes called a KDG or GDM-008). Skyguard is the radar/FCU system (usually upgraded Skyguard III or Skyshield 35 FCU).

Gepard was a KWM project using an EADS FCU, Siemens radar, and Oerlikon-Buhrle's 1950s vintage 35mm KDA guns (based on the paired GDF-003 guns matched with earlier Skyguard systems). The old KDA guns have about half the RPM of the revolver gun (which can therfore make better use of the new 35x228mm AHEAD rounds).

I think you'll find that isn't a FlaK38 but rather a GebFlaK38 (the mountain version of the FlaK30).  The tripod is wrong for a FlaK38.

Err, the annotation says "Mountain Flak".  The "Geb" in GebFlaK is for "Gebirgs", Gebirge being German for mountain.

Put it down to either a "Senior's Moment" or the thing growing in my head which occasionally makes me read things wrong and type them gonwr.

Found these in the harddisk . They are one Bison SPG on Pzkw38(t) chassis mounting a 30 mm gun , double 55mm equipped Panther , double 88 mounting Alligator ( a supposedly 145 ton , 6 men , 285 mm armour , 1500 hp  40km/h project for a universal anti tank/aircraft mission)  and the same turret on a Maus.
