We will likely have to wait at least a few weeks to see the resin and etch sets, not to mention pylons and weapon sets.

Geoff
Certainly does. Not interested in adding anything to the interior except seatbelts, as this is (IMHO) one of those designs that really needs to be modelled with the lids down. However it just seems to come alive when you add the drop-tanks/weaps on the wing stations..... I'll wait, hopefully somebody will do the Recce pallette too, then I could build the big one in RAF 41 Sqn. markings.

Just received my latest issue of SAMI which has the test-shot example built, the builder added some Eduard cockpit PE to it.  From the photos it does look very nice but one observation I've made is the main wheels have been put on wrong, for some reason (and someone here can probably answer this as I've seen photos of the same problem in the 1/72 kits) the main wheels have been glued on so they are cantered outwards at the bottom, but really they should be vertical when the wheels are deployed. The photos I took of the one at Duxford (or was that Yeovilton ) show the main wheels are definitely vertical.

I've got a video on the TSR2 and there's a long sequence which concentrates on the main u/c, you can see that when the u/c decends the wheels would be in the 'cantered' position, but right at the time the leg is fully extended, you can observe a definite 'pop' action where the mains are positioned vertical.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

On the 1:72 kit, the connection between the wheel and the bogie has some play, so if you're not careful you end up with crooked wheels.

When translated into model construction, the design of the TSR2's main gear almost invites that canted look. Because the leg points outwards, and the wheels almost invariably sit on a horizontal axle protruding from the end of the leg, all the loads of the fuselage weight are on the inside of the wheel, so it tries to tilt. If the glue isn't set rock hard before loading the wheel will tend to cant.

On my Merlin TSR2/Vigilante hybrid, an FAA S3A Barracuda in my warped world, I used the Merlin styrene gear assembled with Revell Contacta glue and got exactly that problem. So I had the wheels off again and re-glued them with some 15 min epoxy that was left overnight to REALLY cure. That sorted it, and the wheels are still upright after some years now.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hannants says 'expected week commencing January 12th 2009', so keep checking the site to see when it's availalable.  You can order them now, in fact I wouldn't mess about, I almost missed the 1/72 kit by not kicking my backside into gear!

Arrived this morning at Hannants and now started shipping.

Note there are more 48th versions produced than the 72nd so availability should be somewhat better (especially as Wooksta and Lazlo are unlikely to be stripping the North East of England of every example they could find).

well if the 'limited run' Nimrod is anything to go by there won't be too much difficulty getting hold of them... shops will have massively over ordered after the 1/72 TSR2 sellout and therefore Airfix will have produced that amount... unfortunately stock ordered won't equal stock sold...

More 48th versions of what please? Do you mean they've made more than one type of TSR2 kit????

No, just the one. He meant that the 1/48 kit will be produced in greater numbers than the 1/72 kit was.
