Looks like a proper modeling area now.  But it's way too clean.  You've got to get to work messing it up.

Is this better?  ;D

Looks like a good start.  Although most modelers have parts from at least 4 other kits spread around.  Just to keep things interesting.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Hey! Where's the paint spills and splashes of random colour brought about by accidental tips???

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

On the old piece of newspaper that hasn't been replaced yet....

Mind you, it's amazing the number of things I keep finding in the cellar which have a light dusting of Norwegian splinter cammo sand and/or SAR dayglo orange....

Okay, DISCLAIMER: all you married folk who have to negotiate for a corner of the dining table for an hour or two might want to look away at this point....

Permanent modelling bench in the living room   :

Living alone has it's upside........

The attic space never really worked out for various reasons and I ended up doing my modelling on a temporary dinig-table setup. After mum died, I had an elaborate plan to redo the whole house, including a dedicated modelling room, but the cost, effort and nagging doubts about how I actually live held me back.

A few weeks ago, I came to the conclusion that the nagging doubts were correct. I don't want separate modelling, music, computer and sitting rooms: I want all the stuff I do day-to-day in one room and all the other stuff elsewhere. So a recycled bench and my stereo have now moved into the living room, and all the "nice" stuff has gone into the front room/hallway (or "Visitor Not Scaring Zone" as I'm calling it...) The stash will still be upstairs, but in an easily accessible storeroom (ex bedroom) rather than the attic, and the latter will resort to the long-tern store it was always best suited for. Not decided about where to spray yet, but the current setup in a corner of the attic will do for now.

BTW, that drawer unit is an Ikea "Alex": ideal for modelling stuff since it has wide, flat drawers. They're a scary £90 new, but I lucked out and got that one 2nd hand of ebay for £70-odd.

Very nice set up.  SWMBO and I have separate spare bedrooms for our offices (an advantage of not having any kids [other than the furry kind] running underfoot).

And I do agree that Ikea is ideal, can have scary prices for new, but sometimes the As-Is/scratch and dent section has some great prices

Nice little set up there H, I take it your PC is also in the room along with your reference material ?

I suppose the obvious question is what's the first build to christen it  ;D ?

Yep: camera's by the door, PC out of shot to left, stereo out of shot to right. SOME reference books are in here but there are bookcases of various sizes all over the house and stuff generally lives where it fits.

First build will be a Belize Defence Force Seahawk for the Extended Service Life GB over on BTS.

Strewth now that's what I do call extended, but I can see how it fits in and should be a cracker

Yep: idea is that tensions are higher than RW in the 1960s, making Belize want it's own forces, so the UK gifts them the Seahawks to avoid having to send aircraft (Harriers, for a random example) every time Guatemala kicks off. They then cling to them for grim death due to lack of alternatives or money.

Nah, come on! Now you're being ridiculous..................  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Nice little set up ! I agree that a mutli-purpose room is the way to go, otherwise you'd be walking from room to room and never really feeling 'at home' so to speak.

Nice set up but how long does it stay that clean ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
