Looks good, but my feeling is that you should also have the stash in the same room. That makes it much easier to grab a box to have a rummage for that elusive perfect part for the kitbash you have to finish for the show tomorrow. It also makes it much easier to idly start a new build while waiting for something to dry...

I'd love to have building space in the (relatively warm) house but seeing as I got in trouble yesterday for cutting carrots too loudly I doubt that'll happen.

The only way to have the stash in the same room as the bench would be to have a dedicated modelling room, which would need heating, and which would make my 20 mins at PC, 20 mins modelling pattern that much harder ("just one more youtube video...."). When the stash moves into an upstairs bedroom it will be much more accessible and there'll be a small table in there for plastic fondling.

I try not to start a new build in the middle of the last one because I'm an absolute bugger for not finishing things I start and that way I'd end up with even more boxes of unfinished projects.

At the moment they stay in their transport boxes, which live wherever there's room for them. Eventually I hope to have new furniture with display shelves built in, but my immediate focus is on using what I've already got and spending as little money as possible.

I know I just spent a weekend doing that so I could get on with my current build as there was no room to put the model once assembly began

That's why I've resurrected that long, thin bench: there's no "back" for things to get pushed to.

A photo of a case in point in supportof Geoff's comments...................................This is my bench on a good day.

And the spray booth and casting bench are in there.....................some where.

Ah, but the unfinished builds, spare parts, donor kits etc all stay off the bench on a selection of tables, shelves and the gas heater that surround it.
That way, on the rare instance I want to clean I just sweep all the detritus onto the floor (checking for small parts as I do so).

As for the carrots, apparently using a large knife on a melamine work top constitutes "too noisy" if SWMBO is watching Family Feud in the next room.

Love seeing the pics of the benches. I like to keep my part builds and stash separate. Well, I kind of have to at the moment so I'm going with that.

Cutting carrots - well, anything really - on a kitchen bench-top?

My wife wouldn't be telling me to be quiet, she'd (to misquote Alan Rickman from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) "cut my heart out ... with a spoon!"

Cutting boards, laddie! Cutting boards! That way you don't damage the bench-top AND they tend to be a bit quieter than cutting directly onto the melamine.
