Looking good, Baz, keep it up!

Quite a journey this one has been Mr Howling Mouse! It's good to see you getting ever so much closer to finishing it. I love the way it looks with that Meteor canopy on it!  B)

Speaking of the Meteor canopy, that got glued on this a.m.
Will be plenty of puttying required.  I may even have to resort to Milliput.
I will first mask off the canopy with friendly Tamiya yellow tape, then cover the whole canopy with aluminum tape (awesome stuff if you can get your hands on the stuff) to protect the clear canopy from the assault of sanding that is going to be perpetrated against this little model.

Looks like that canopy is going to be fun fun fun!

Can't wait to see the scheme this bird will wear!
Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

I forgot to take a pic with the neat little styrene ribs I shaped under the jut-outs of the mis-matched canopy.  They looked like two-inch long Samurai swords, right down the the bevelled lower edge and pointed tips.

The canopy is protected by Tamiya tape topped with some 3M Aluminum tape.

Now, they're both all covered up with goop and so on.  Putty-sand-repeat.

We're in putty-sand-repeat    phase to get that Meteor canopy to fit (sort of).  And I have to scratchbuild a tail fin.
After that, it goes together pretty much like a kit off the shelf would (sort of).

It's funny, at this stage, it looks downright terrible.  Yet, each stage of sanding has revealed a much improved final contour underneath.

This is a pic of the fifth putty stage and the next pic should be surprisingly smooth.
I think.

Just a couple of small pockmarks left.  I'm switching over to the finer-grain 3M glazing auto putty now.  Maybe one more puttying/sand step?

It's funny, the stuff I do kinda crappy looks great in online pics while the stuff that looks great in person ends up looking kinda crappy online!

The feathered putty around the dissimilar canopy looks terrible in these pics because of the two types of putty used but it feels very smooth to the touch.

Guess I'll only know once I hit it with primer.

Color scheme, Ollie?

Go, Mr. Howling Mouse, Go! You're almost at the finish line with this one! I love the canopy on it!

Barry, Barry, he's our man! If he can't finish it...........

RCAF? Just a suggestion.......

Good work Baz, keep it up!

I discovered some tiny gaps between the lower canopy edge and the lip of the cockpit aperture so here we go again (all for 1 mm or less of a gap!)
