Continue, you must! Finish it you will! So will it be RCAF?

John Howling Mouse

Yes, Master Yoda...I've been thinking RCAF all along too but final paint scheme is up to Ollie.  It is a "Lacombe" after all.  I really don't know much about "real" paint schemes and such (no kidding) so I'm hoping Mr. Lacombe can point me in the right direction.

Did I just heard my name?

I'll find you a suitable scheme Barry!

;)

John Howling Mouse

Thanks, Ollie.  Keep it within my capabilities, eh?!

Yeah, no splinter or fractal camo! ^_^

Just trying to reproduce any "real" scheme scares me!

Looks sharp, Ollie.

Is that profile representing mainly bare metal finish or white?

Any other letters I could use (other than "BUG")?

Well, round 59 on the puttying to blend in the canopy to the fuselage.
The putty looked horrible still so I ended up brushing some silver on to see just how bad it *really* was.  Not too bad, actually.

Excellent Baz! When seen next to what I manage to get away with, your efforts are much better than just passable. I'm almost as hungry to see this one come together as I am your ultra Top-Secret Meteor.

Thanks, Brian, but part of the reason I took the oversized, hi-rez pics was to see the flaws: those little chips along the canopy line.

I will be applying a touch more Bondo glazing putty in at least three more spots that I can see.

The only thing that keeps me from getting completely fed up with it is the patience afforded by working on multiple models at the same time.  I just switch over to another kit for awhile.

And the Meteor is coming along nicely.  Tomorrow's the big day when I finally get to [[[CENSORED BY BRITISH M.O.D.]]]

Not perfect but I'm done with puttying and sanding to blend in this British canopy to this Japanese fuselage.         From here on in, I think this actually becomes pretty much an OOB build, believe it or not.

Ollie: you never did answer my question up there somewhere about your proposed scheme: is the illustration showing nmf or white?

[ I later got a quick answer from a MM site:

Wow looking good Mr Howling Mouse! Since this build uses the Meteor's canopy, what canopy will the Ultra Top-Secret Meteor have? My long-legged, leather miniskirted brunette spies have come back empty-handed from their intel mission to the Great White North...

Ollie

Sorry Barry, I must have been away...

It's NMF of course!
