That is what most folks would describe as multi-tasking ;)

As long as you have sufficient space for both projects to coexist without mixing up the parts you should be okay.

As with all my projects, there's an experimental stage and this is one of those incarnations. I'm not happy with it, so it will look different the next time around. :)

Resistance is futile.  Besides, now you've got me wondering what such a thing would look like, and I know yours would look ten times better than anything I could bash together.

I've been in a bit of a modeling funk lately, but did manage to get the booms to where I like them. The vertical stabs have been shortened as well.:)

Neat. Are you going to remove the horizontal fins on the chopter?

Hi Eddie,
Very nice so far but if you dont mind me adding my 2c`s worth,
Extend the helio tailplane and lose rear end, add ducting jets on tail fins to avoid torque probs
or
Lose rear of helio from back of engines and replace horizontal tailplane between outriggers fuselages
or
Go have a bash on the F8/16ths and call it the 1/2 inch conversion and come back to this when the voices are more clearer.

Folks,
It is with great regret that I have to put this one aside and think of another avenue. I can't force the idea if it's not going to present itself. My biggest drawback is I really want to build the Cobra real world. I'm going to Austin tomorrow (in advance for the Testament, Motorhead, Heaven & Hell, Judas Priest concert in San Antonio Sunday) and I will be shopping for a suitable donor for the Bronco Bash. Also, the F-8/16 bash is presenting alot of challenges as well. I think I need to wait until I get back from the show before I try to do anymore. If I can't get the voices to cooperate, I'll mush them with LOUD music until they see the errors of their ways! ;D

Sorry to here that you have shelved this idea for the time being. I was looking forward to seeing where you went with this.

I have an Idea of how you could move forward with this project.

Rather than use the cobra as the basis for the fuselage why don't you use one of the Kamov helicopter designs, like the helix?

you could cut off the tail and lengthen the bronco tails. No need to worry about the pesky tail rotor as it doesn't have one!

Add a turret at the front like the Chinnoks in Vietnam had and it would look way cool.

Or if you want more of an attack chopper look you could use the Kamov alligator.

I wonder how it would look if you could find two more donor AH-1's, and do the twin-boom concept using those.  Cut the center tail off, etc. . . and use the tail/engine sections for the booms.  You'd probably need a larger wing.  Perhaps dual tail rotors would be necessary for the added torque of 3 engines?  This could be a sort of rotor-version of the AD-1, just totally loaded down with nasty hardware.

There are a lot of ways you could take this.  But you're right--it's no good forcing it.  It's always better to put 'er away until it comes back to you.

Weird how the Bronco booms on your helo sort of stalled this one, Eddie.  That's exactly what happened with my WUH and its Bronco booms.  [insert Outer Limits tune here].  Maybe we should switch over to P-38 Lightning booms instead?
