Man you sure have had your troubles with this. Metallics are certainly not the easiest to spray.

But keep with it, persistance pays off. I am liking this design so it would be a shame for you not get it over the finish line.

Yeah I like this design too much to quit on her :banghead: I should just learn not to experiment on stuff I like

Proof of that is the utterly fantastic Swordfish floatplane diorama built by Pierre. It is finally in the final stages, but he was using poured resin and literally melted two separate sets of floats before he got pointed to the right product. Even after he found the "right stuff" he conducted extensive testing and spent some sleepless hours before finally accomplishing his goal. Check out his build thread on the ARC forum. The hand made fish are a real hoot.

Hi SoToolSli`

Your models are like the weather. They bring a smile to my face and always turn out fine in the end.

This is probably a bit late, but I was reading Swanney`s site over on FSM, & in his bit about Klear/Future floor polish he mentions that you can add food colourings it to give a coloured transapent affect.
Poss`bly if you mixed Tamiya clear colours with a bit of one of their metallics in the X22 Acrylic clear you prob get the same effect (But don`t use silver as its cr@p)

Cheers  :drink:

I like the look of it sanded down like that Toolslinger. It looks like it's been in a few scrapes and came out on top.

Thanks ya'll ;D I plan on another sanding session when it gets dry enough. Then I will shoot it with some purple. Then to continue the worn/burned look I will mask it randomly with blutack and spray a combo of glosscote, dullcote, and glittercoat to simulate wear and damage

This baby is twice as cool in person! I like what you've done with the finish, Toolslinger! Looks like re-entry burns.

Lookin' good!

I agree, Slinger's models look even better in person, and considering how cool this looks now...

Glad you got some play time in!

I like the variations and colors of the finish.  It's not your run of the mill, same old gray....

Even though it might not fit your backstory, I gotta tell you, STS, at every stage of the painting and sanding, your scheme keeps looking incredibly alien.  Imagining what an alien race having a different optical range and living in a different spectrum of light would consider camouflage, you've hit several nails on the head, I'd say.

As it stands at your latest stage of finish, I'd say it's something Chiggy von Richthofen himself would proudly fly...
