i found this picture on a facebook group against the recent shenanigans going on in Georgia. is this an F-15 or is it a MiG-29? thanks for the help.

Very much an Eagle I'd say, though the only modern combat type in Georgia's inventory is the Frogfoot/Scorpion.  I'd say the pic is either wisfull thinking on someone's part or some doofus who thinks it's the other Georgia that Russia invaded.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

according to the site i got it from, this is supposed to be a Russian MiG

No way is that a MiG. Its clearly an F-15. Wingtips give it away, as does the shape of the vertical stabilizers. Asides from that, the Vertical Stabs on the MiG-29 are angled slightly outwards.

it is what certain Georgians expected to see .

Yes, today it seems likely that Georgia expected the US military to step into this conflict.
Im somehow glad Georgia isnt a member of NATO yet. That would result in another cold war, or even worse, a nuclear war. Should serve as a reminder that the threat of nuclear war is not far away, despite the fall of the Soviet Union.

AeroplaneDriver

Scary to think of the situation if Georgia was already a member of NATO.  The other members would be obligated to assist, next thing you know, Whoops, Apocalypse.

Hopefully saner heads will soon prevail on both sides, but regardless the end result will be a distinct  souring of relations between the West and Russia.  Maybe 232 Typhoons isnt a bad thing after all....

It could be a Georgian F-15...Georgia Air National Guard?  Perhaps based outside of Atlanta?

Yes, its too political for some peoples minds...

Back on topic: We need a profile of this Georgian F-15. I want to do a diorama of a Georgian F-15 in the airfield at Tblisi, after a visit from the Rus AF

No body from Nato came running to our assistance in 1982. Untill it became clear we were going to kick the other sides butt....Hard.

Besides Georgia couldnt afford to opperate Eagles , let alone afford to buy them. Even at a knocked down price.
They only have the frogfoots because they have the factory were they were built
I always hope for the best.

Let's be honest, even if Georgia were a NATO member, would the alliance really go to war with the Soviets (oops, Russia)?  Two chances & Georgia isn't exactly overwhelmed with important national resources so that kinda knocks it down to none.

The Bear begins to sharpen his claws again and everyone acts surprised after Putin???  The guy's ex-KGB at the end of the day.

Not anymore apparently, seems the Russians bombed that factory quite recently. With SU-25s of all things.

you might have seen this before but ı found it in Acig.org ; meanwhile the Russians seem to be sure that they are fighting the other Georgians . It would be very interesting to see the Russian internet claims that they have captured a Su-25 pilot that speaks only English supported with hard evidence ...

meanwhile ı would personally consider it a shame if a "Nasser" was pulled ; those who lavishly lay gifts on the Russian Bear should suffer the consequences , where is the cold war spirit ?
