As we've already discussed in alternate history, Grumman handled the competition with remarkable arrogance and stupidity.  I'm wondering what Grumman would have done had they actually really gave it some thought and effort and didn't just get all cocky.  Part of me assumes jets would have been used like the S-3 Viking design, but I'm not sure.

That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

Hey guys,
VSX was the procurement competition to replace the Grumman S2F as the Navy's carrier-based ASW aircraft.

S2F

The Lockheed design was chosen and entered service as the S-3 Viking.

S-3

Evidently while the other competitors put forth real proposals, Grumman, who had been the USN's single supplier for the mission since the 1940s,
basically brought along very little data and a huge amount of ego. In short "we know what's best, write us a blank check and we'll come up with something".
Needless to say this did not go down well.

So what Kendra is positing is:
What If? Grumman had been serious about the competition what might they have designed?
What If? like the other competitors they had gone for twin turbofans, how would they have been mounted?
How would the crew have been situated?
What would be the basic layout?
etcetera etcetera

She's saying, you've got a clean slate folks so how do you think the Grumman entry should have looked?

Maybe something like a Prowler? or another version of the C-2 Greyhound Or E-2 Hawkeye? with jet engines rather than props?

Base layout meanderings:
Start with the Gulfstream II, change it to a high-wing layout with podded high-bypass turbo-fans on the rear fuselage,
moved down and slightly aft?
Maybe move the wing forward slightly?
