Still working on this one.  This view shows the forms for the new canopy and the glazed nose stuck in place.  I'll vacuform new clear pieces from these forms.  I've also cut down the aft fuselage and will fill it in and the old cockpit opening.  I put some tape over these openings to show what the shape of the aft fuselage will look like.

Thought I'd post pictures of my progress on this.  I guess I better get moving.  There's only a couple weeks left.

Here are a couple shots of the interior.  It's all scratchbuilt and pretty much just a bunch of pieces glued in to look good.  I should have it closed up and finish the PSR this weekend.

It's coming along.  (It had better be, there's only one week left.)

Here it is with the masking in place after the final coat of paint.

And this is what it looks like with the masking removed.

Next up is the markings.  I'm just using the original Spitfire markings for an a/c in the Pacific theater.

Here is the completed 1/72 Spitfire based bomber.  I did a "scale-arama" from a 1/48 Hobbycraft Spitfire Mk XIV.

Here it is next to a 1/72 Spitfire Mk Vb for a size comparison.

And here is another view of the two of them together.

Here is the underside.

A view of the port side.

A view of the starboard side.

And finally a view from the front.

Enjoy

There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Great job.  Looks like a russian aircraft in its lines.

Thanks.

I thought it looked kind of Russian as well.  I considered putting red stars on it and see what the JMN's would do.

I REALLY enjoy it when someone takes an out-of-scale aircraft and makes something different from it. For making 1/72-scale aircraft I've done that with 1/200, 1/144, 1/96, 1/48, and even 1/32 aircraft. The UN-expected is fun!!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Absolutely fecking brilliant, Ed!
