^ What a beauty!

Got two of those planned as well. One aboard a carrier in a camo along the lines of your build and one shore-based in SEAC camo.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Vickers Supermarine DEMON mk5

In 1944 the Airministry authorised Vickers Supermarine to build a basic fighter as a stop gap in case of the failure of the then current designs of Meteor Vampire etc.

The design was put into limited production ( 130+ ) and issued to the fighter training schools of the RAF, numbers also wnt to the RCAF and where considered for production in Australis but nothing came of it.

The Demon was armed with 4x20mm cannon and 2x12.7mm mg it was upgraded into 5 marques with the final being modeled here. It depicts an aircraft of no17 Fighter training school, used for disimilar combat training and based at RAF Salisbury ( Rhodesia ) in 1960, the penultimate year of its service.

Bashed this one from 3 kits......bonus points to those whom canspot which ones ?

Commonwealth Fighter Aircraft 90.  Hurricane ii

The New Commonwealth combined air ministries issued a equirment in the late 1970's for an advanced air superiority fighter to equip all Commonwealth members, the task unlike the lightweight fighter proposal was at this time of financial retrenchment not something that any one company could afford. So was born the Commonwealth fighter Aircraft Corporation, made up of Avro from Canada, the Union Aircraft Corporation from South Africa, Commonwealth Aircraft from Australia and British Aircraft corporation from the UK.

Together they developed the CFA 90, originally designed to be in service by 1990 but development times and costs had slipped, leading to one of the largest cost overuns in Commonwealth history, making the craft more than 4 years late and only in pe-production numbers by the 1991 disaster.

By August of 1990 12 aircraft had flown with 5 in the hands of the RAF, 3 with the RCAF, 2 with the RAAF and 2 in the hands of the Union Aircraft dCorporation for the RSAAF, RNZAF, RRAF and the RNgAF, flight tests where complete and orders had been submitted for the initial production run.

The aircraft was initially to have been called the Typoon ii but after a highly succesful public campaign by the RAF it was announced on Battle of Britain day that to commererate the 50 years of this outstanding acheivement the aircraft would take the name Hurricane ii to honour all those who flew in the defence of democracy.

Never to enter Sqadron service with the New commonwealth before the 91 disaster, today it remains one of the great what if's

the Kit is the old old old Revell efa 90, not much of a match to the Tornado so here it is in another guise.
Hopefully will get at least one more done tonigth before my Mother turns up and all the hatches are battened down .  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

EHEDFAN ( to fly, to soar ) T1

Today July 27th 1986 the new combined United Kingdom team won it's first Gold in the new Aerobatic catagory, the first time the sport has been included in the Commonwealth Games.
The Gold was won by Squadron leader Ivan Thomas flying for the RAF sponsored team in the solo set routine. He flew his tiny aircraft through a set number of manouvers with names such as the split s, the 3 turn spin, the cuban 8 and the cobra roll.
His aircraft, a Ehedfan single seat trainer of the RAF is an improved New Commonwealth copy of a Soviet Yakolev trainer produced under licence at Welsh aviation in Swansea, tuely a feat for all the United Kingdom to be proud of.
It has been announced that Her Majesty will see squadron leader Thomas at the palace later this week.

Strangely, this hasn't come up when I click the 'Show new replies to your posts' link before today.  Pretty sure it's a Su-26, I only remember the type because I got buzzed by one some years ago.  He kept coming across the crowd line a little too low for comfort, I guess he wasn't invited back again.

Nice little machine & a smart livery!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

^ Or a Su-31?

I also had a problem with this thread, this is the 1st time any of the pix on the last page have loaded for me, but that may be my PC's fault (where's the zimmer frame smilie?).

Love the Bombcorde, MEAF Phantom, Skyray & AEW Canberra

Beriev be12. Tarunga MR3 er

Following the New Zealand govenments decision of 1984 ( the Durban conferance ) to not procure anymore of what it considered to be " combat aircraft " it purchased from the Soviet Union a number of transport aircraft and also some Beriev Be12 patrol aircraft.

Originally delivered to the RNZAF in late 1984 and called at that time the Gull, it soon found itself with a new name........Tarunga, after New Zealand's biggest port and one of the seaplane bases from which the aircraft flew.

The RNZAF wanted longer range and so the Tarunga was outfitted with long range fuel tanks under both wings and in the MR3 er (for Extended Range) oversize tanks fitted wich made amphibious landings dangerous unless in an emergancy, but increased the patrol range considerably.

The aircraft modeled is one of the 4 such craft which acompanied the New Zealand relief experdition to the UK in 1992, and helped to secure the Princess Royal as regent to the Kindgom and now resides in the 91 disaster museum in Colchester.

Brian da Basher

I really like your Kiwi Beriev, tdm! The color scheme is a perfect compliment to the markings and the panel lines are very nicely restrained and add to the realism.

I don't know how you do it, but you manage to top yourself with each new project. Impressive work!
