Royal Burmease Air Force....Tupolev Tu2m, Dassault  Mystere IV a

Following the decision of Burma to join the New Commonwealth in 1957 Britain used it's good relationship with France to
help the burmease airforce to upgrade from the World War ii vintage aircraft it had inherited from the UK upon independance and to suplement such types as the Airspeed Oxford  and dehaviland vampire.

Placed in 1958 by lt Gen ThuyaSaw Phyu the order for the 88 mystere iv's was a surprise to many but was welcome in France and the first aircraft was delivered to 937 sqd at Mingaladon air base initially forming a wing of 3 squadrons.

More shocking to many was the Burmease order from Poland of 36 refurbished Tu2m aircraft to form the countries first true bomber squadrons, delivered at almost the samr time the aircraft had a checkered carear with servicability problems and obselecance. Serving at Meiktila the aircraft eventually fell from the order of battle after being used as ground targets and maintainance aids.

Both aircraft are as they appeared in oct 1959 resplendant in the new Burmease " New Commonwealth " roundel introduced in sept of that year and also in the new 3 colour cammo introduced at the same time.

海市蜃樓 戰鬥轟炸機 五 ( Mirage license built fighterbomber 5 )

The extensive and warm relations between France and Red China naturally lead to many French weapon systems entering Chinease service, not least among them was the improved version of the Mirage family the F1.

Shortly after the aircraft entered French service the Chinease aproached the French govenment with the request for a licence to produce the aircraft for the PLAAF.

After negotiations that included transfer of technology and development rights the license was granted in March of 1979, with production starting within the year.

The first aircraft entered PLAAF sevice in 1982 with the development of a dedicated reconnaissance version following almost imediatly.

Based upon the French F1-M53 the Chinease 海市蜃樓 戰鬥轟炸機 五 ( Mirage license built fighterbomber 5 ) was the varient used for the reconnaissance platform, it delated the wingtip missiles and replaced them with extra tankage and sensor suits. As well as an uprated powerplant in carried a Thomson-CSF Cyrano IV monopulse radar.

Operated in support of the Navy the craft modeled is serving with the 154th regiment along the southern coast near shanghai in the fall of 1988. it carries the two tone blue cammoflage recently introduced into the PLAAF overwater aircraft.

well this one is a colberation with my 9 year old son, I biult the kit and he decided on the cammo he wanted after looking through all my pictures. he painted it and put on the decals, i finished a few details but the rest is him.

Nice F-1.  Looks like you have a pretty good modeler there helping you.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

You're over your funk then Tim!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Yes mate, walked away from building kits for a while, caught up on reading and did jobs for the wife, nothing like the latter to drive you back to kits  ;D  ;D
