Just a quick one for anyone reading this thread..........

I have two aircraft that are made but need a paint job, one will be a New Commonwealth member and the other not.
Without telling you what aircraft, apart from one is ground attack and the other a fighter, what countries do you want them to be from ( not the USA or USSR ) ?

I'm wanting to do them by the 20th Aug to celibrate 1 year of the thread.
If you have back story ideas thats great but i can soon whip one up, aircraft are in service from 1982 on.

Whenever I hear ground attack aircraft, I always wonder if it could have a role with the Coast Guard.

Did you know there was a real MiG project along those lines called the SM-12? It started off as an attempt to get best performance from the MiG-19 by adding a variable intake, but then morphed into a ZELL interceptor project with a damn great roacket booster underneath.

I want to do an SM-12ish thing for Patchwork World, so it's good to see how good it looks in the plastic. Any chance of telling us what kits you used?

Always liked that one, saw it in Soviet secret projects and the Osprey encyclopedia of Russian aircraft so had to have one as it is in my opinion so graceful.
Used the old Airfix Mig 21 for the fuselage and an Kopro Mig 19 for the wings.

Love the Cherry Blossum! I too have a thing for all the various Migs developed between the -19 and -21.

For what it's worth (I won't dare argue with your style advisor

), Belize and Guatemala get my vote!

Panther fr2 Israeli Navy, HMS Eagle 1962

In the aftermath of the Suez operation and the " falling out !" between the UK and the USA, Israel found itself in a quandry. On the one hand was the USA with the money and power, none of which it seemed willing to support them with and on the other there was the UK, not the power it was but willing and able to support them. Well foe the Israeli's actions speak louder than words and so they moved into the British and French sphere.

One aspect of this was the gift from the Canadians in 1959 of a squadron of F9 Panthers operated as the FR2 to be used by it's navy on the Royal Navy carriers on patrol in the Mediterrainian.

Operated in a slightly lighter shade of grey than the standard RN scheme as they served exclusivly within the Med 1102 squadron of the IDF at one time or another was equipped with Supermarine Scimitars, DH Sea Vixens, McDonnell Phantoms and BAC Sea Harriers.

The sucess of this measure led to the inclusion of IDF infantry and helicopters upon RN Commando carriers when on Med deployments and of a Israeli troop operating worlwide with the SAS.

Hope you like it as it's a quick one whilst i await decals for the 5 aircraft i have ready to post once they turn up.
