Força Aérea Portuguesa...3ª Região Aérea. Corsair F4U

After the end of the war many nations took advantage of the mass of war surplus around the world, Portugal was one such nation taking delivery of Spitfires, Thunderbolts, Harvards, Mosquitoes and Corsairs.

The Corsairs were dispatched to Mozambique to form the air defence of the colony and they soldiered on there until the outbreak of the Inserection in 1961.

The Corsairs operated in support of army operations and patroled the colony's borders to help cut off the guerillas from the supplies being smuggled in from the USSR and China.

As the corsairs onlt operated at the start of the campaigns in Africa they never recieved the later Green based infa red suppresion finishes so common to later Portugese aircraft.

The Aircraft is modeled after an aircraft seen in 1961 at a forward airbase in the mozambique bush .

The serial on the side of the aircraft is entirly fictional but it is in the correct number range as it is four figures and begins with 4, piston single engined aircraft. The colours are based upon Portugese aircraft in Africa in the timeframe specifed.

This is a departure for me as it's the first WWii aircraft I've built in a while.

I know I commented earlier, but I do like to see pseudo-civvy schemes on combat aircraft, it does give them a different look.

Just a quick one today.

Soviet Naval Forces Ekranoplan, Anchorage 91 Disaster

this is the first 1/144 i've ever built, and the first Boat type thing in 20+ years.

There will be a back story to fir it later but it needs its friends doing first, some of the back story is already knoewn due to an earlier build bur this one will be US which i know is a departure for me as i don't usually do American things

thanks mate, to be fair it's a hangover from my old wargames days when i didn't put in the cockpit, and now i just can't stand to do them
