Congratulations on your 200th!! Thanks for sharing them all with us, and having us along for the ride! I think there are plenty of lifetime modelers that never hit 200 models... you did it all in one thread!! Truly special!!

Hoping to get a Royal Egyption Air Force aircraft on soon, going to be circa 1956-57 and pro Anglo French !!!
Everything looks better with the addition of British Roundels!

Westland Wyvern F2, Royal Egyption Air Force, Suez Canal Zone late 1957-57


The re-constituted Royal Egyption Air Force operated a mixture of ex RAF and RN machines as befitted a organisation run by the UK and more or less dependant on UK logistics to operate.

The 22 wyverns operated by No's 3 and 5 squadrons were all ex Royal Navy machines and for a while represnted the front line offensive strength of the air force, many machines were found on Egyption bases by the victorious Cmmonwealth/French forces when they overan them but so few were airworthy it was considered best to reequip rather than canabilise to keep flying. It should also be remembered that a not inconsiderable amount of the old regimes aircraft fled to other nearby Arab countries and eventually found it's way to the "free" Egyption Air Force in Syria.

Adopting the old Egyption Roundel the Wyverns flew ground attack missions in the canal zone during the continuation war of 56-57, many of the pilots were RN personel on secondment to the REAF and the ground services were provided by the RAF.
