next commonwealth Interceptor, from episode 41   the Air show  , is ready to make it's debut ( she will be a red arrow )

Avro Vulcan B53, Royal New Zealand Air Force,
under command of the Singapore Strike wing,
operating from Chile during the last stages of the Falklands war

New Zealand's small Air force operated only one squadron of Vulcan bombers and they has always been seen as a little toy for the RNzAF, something to keep it quiet something for it to polish and look good for air shows and the like.

However with the Argentine attack upon the falklands and the combined Commonwealth responce to these actions it looked as though they where at last off to war.

Flying form New Zealand to the Chilean air base of Santiago El Bosque at the very start of the war then north to Antofagasta/Cerro Moreno to help ease the strain that the Americans where putting upon Chile.

Once the war entered it's second stage and the fight was taken to Argentina itself the Vulcans of the RNzAF where in the thick of the fighting, under the command of the Singapore strike wing and in conjunction with Hunters, Eagles, Buccaneers, and other commonwealth aircraft they flew missions in support of ground troops of the combined commonwealth corps which together with the Chilean ground forces where in combat with Argentine forces until the outbreak of the Argentine civil war and the subsequent regime change.

Commonwealth Interceptor, Captain Britain Episode 41: The Air Show,  Royal International Air Tattoo 2071.

One of the major features of the Commonwealth Guardians was the sexy female pilots of the commonwealth interceptors, they where played by a posse of young and beautiful women, all of whom looked stunning in the way that only a sexy Liberian can be




Miss Albion the " secretary " to Captain Britain and Squadron leader of the Commonwealth interceptors

the cover story for these ladies was that they where Liberians and secretary's to the Commonwealth Guardians but that they had secret identities as dashing fighter pilots helping to rid the skies of the republican menace.

In episode 41 the Guardians recieved intelligence that the RIAT show of 2071 was to be interupted by a terriblist strike upon the event. The Commonwealth Interceptors where dispatched to the show in RAF Red Arrow liveryto provide support and to stop the attack should it happen.

The episode came to a climax with the interceptors fighting off a republican attack made by " Stolen " US aircraft and then putting on an amazing flying display for the crowds.

no only a spelling mistake, Liberia is one of the USA's friends in Africa and gets that special sort of US aid, you know ....Disney, Cola and Weapons that are unsuited to their needs but look good in a parade!!

The Palestinian Air Force in the Suez War 1956/57

In 1947 the United kingdom after consultation with United nations allies, limited the mass influx of Jewish immigrants, and divided the Palestine Mandate into Arab, and Jewish zones. The first consisted of Gaza, the West Bank and Negev Desert (excluding the area around Beer Sheba), but Jerusalem became a free city with a Gurkha Battalion garrison. Jewish immigration was limited to regions of Tel Aviv, Beer Sheba and the Galilee. Immigrants who had settled in the Arab zones had to leave.
A couple of years later, after a brief civil war, consisting mainly of terrorist or guerrilla actions, the two zones announced their independence, with Jerusalem remaining under British control. Israel greatly benefited from the assistance of the French, and Palestine from British. When Nasser turned to the Soviets for assistance and fell increasingly under their influence,( nationalizing the Suez canal,) Britain and France decided to intervene militarily. As the official reason it was decided to use the claims of Egypt to the Gaza Strip and the border clashes between Egypt and the Palestine.
The attack on Canal Zone was successfull, and Palestine served in this war mainly as a staging point for coalition aircraft, and by border actions kept Egyptian forces in the Sinai, away from the canal.
In first stages of conflict, whilst Egypt still occupied Rafah, the Palestinian Air Force after the hasty application of Suez stripes performed the majority of  interceptions of Egyptian planes attacking Gaza, but later, after the taking of Port Said and Suez by the British and French, the units attacked the retreating Egypt troops in Sinai. During one of these raids, pilots of the Palestinian air force in late marque Spitfires, after a dogfight at low altitude, claimed an Egyptian Vampire as shot down and two other probables.
