About two dozen of the Airfix Angel Interceptors that were everywhere, and much abused/whiffed when I were a kid. Seem to be gold dust now........

One note about the Tucumcari, the kit is 1/84th scale rather than 1/72nd.
The kit is pretty nice and basically accurate, the aft deck armament is the combined .50 HMG and 40mm grenade launcher mount,
the later Emerson twin-20mm turret would have been more interesting.

Here's a Tucumcari on eBay (not mine):

I remember building that as a kid. Had a lot of fun playing with it, in my neighbor's swimming pool.

I have heard that Moebius may not do the Rod but Revell may be rereleasing it with others of Tom's models.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Polar Lights C-57D cruiser from Forbiddon planet.

Saw one for 100 bucks 2 years ago and thought man that is to much. :banghead:

Looks like Round 2 is going to bring this kit back and include some additional figures including the ID monster and Robbie's vehicle.  Now if they can keep the price between $50-70 I might also get one.

I was floored by a model I built (badly) during my youth twice.  Anyone remember the old Revell/Monogram Jaques-Ives Cousteau Calypso?  Someone was selling it in a somewhat worse for wear original box for US $100.  An original boxed 1977 R2D2 was US $60.  There were also other nostalgic favorites that underlined ones misspent youth: Buck Rogers' (TV Series ) Fighter, Moonbus, Space 1999 Moonbase Alpha, and others even more expensive.

HELL YES! I had the Calypso - bits of it ended up in every whiff imaginable...........

Also had the Buck Rogers Starfighter, and the naff alien "Marauder" that went with it, and the original BG Viper, and the Cylon Raider, and the original X-Wing, and the Darth Vader TIE fighter, and....... I think I'm going to go and lie down now.....

(Still got two half-finished/half-cocked-up MPC Millenium Falcons up the attic........)

Remember the "Calypso"?  Heck, I have one in my stash.  Someday, I may even get around to building it.  And I still have a builtup "Moonbus" in my display case.

I've got one of the C-57's in my stash as well.  Looks like I'm sitting on a lot more money than I realized.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

I wish I'd put my name down for an Airfix TSR.2 when I heard about it first. I didn't know it was going to be a limited release.

Ditto here.  Actually, I got as far as placing an order for one, but between the time that I placed the order, and got the confirmation email from Squadron, they sold out of them.  No offense to the British members of this forum, but all this buying of them in case-lots really did a number on those of us who just wanted one or two.

From what I recall, the deal was that the total number of TSR2's produced was determined by how many pre-orders were made by a certain date at all the different stores, after that date the ordering was closed down.  As soon as I saw it advertized on Hannants I ordered two.  Then later and being an Airfix Club member, the members were offer a small amount that were sold on a first come, first served basis and I got one of those.  These kits came with a very nice print of the TSR2 which is different to the box art, I'll have to find where I put mine and get it framed, the print is said to be worth over C$60.00 and printed on very good material which needs to be stretched properly when framing it.  What I was told when I went to get it framed but passed on it for the time being because of the expense, over C$300 was the quote I got from one place.

Hopefully it'll be re-released at some point. I really don't feel like paying "collector" price for it. I want to build the bloody thing, not sit on it for years!

Heres a bit of useless trivia.

Apparently the Calypso model was used extensively in detailing the mother ship filming model from Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Halycon Movie Classics 'Aliens' APC kit in 1/35th scale model.  I thought it was too expensive when the kit was originally offered.  Now you have to sell your soul to the devil to obtain that kit.
