If one wheel is bigger than the other, it's probably a 'field modification'. Today I'm back with the Kingbird. This shot shows the starboard wing in place, and at this very minute, both wings are in place with part of the fuselage painted. I have three choises with colour schemes, first the USMC, second, Eastern Air Transport, (later Eastern Air Lines) and finally, a Turkish carrier. As I have photos of Eastern, (B&W) but know their colours, one has to paint the fuselage before the engines and struts go in place. because it's so complex.

I can't wait to see this Kingbird finished! It's one of my all-time pre-War designs...

Will you do it in civilian guise, or in the beautiful USMC RC-1 scheme?

Glenn

Stargazer, I'll finish her off as Eastern Air Transport, late 1920's~early 1930's. Yeah, I like those early designs.....give me a prop aircraft, any day!
The model in this photo is, Civil 3 of 5, for 2010. All metal construction, monoplane, late 1930's design and built. I won't say what it is, no one will have heard of it, so I'll keep you all guessing for a while. It's also 1/48 scale.

Glenn

Nuh, sorry, I think you need more input!
Todays' photo is the Wespe vtol fighter with the ring in place. It's funny, but the fairy godfather must have been looking down when I decided to pack the present for my youngest niece. I decided to pack the present in a Post cylinder....and what do you know, the right diameter. If you think it looks weird now, wait til it's finished.
Glenn.

Oh yeah...1/32sc.

Glenn

I'm sure you guys remember the movie "Raiders....", and watch as Indy destroys the 'wing' on the field well, what you didn't know was, that that said transport was escorted to Egypt.
Enclosed, one of those Wing fighters. Designed and built by the same company, (name escapes me at the moment) with it's twin Inverted V 12 cylinder DB 1000hp engines.

Model used : Sword 1/72 Northrop N9M, and some Evergreen.

Oh how I loved that part in the movie when the German prototype appears! I'm sure that if it came out now and not in 1981, there'd be enough marketing effort for there to be a proper 1:48 scale model of that bugger!

Mossie

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Glenn

Tophe, this is the Lightning High Speed glider, finished less canopy. I've made the template for the rear section of the canopy, (to be vacformed clear) but haven't started the other two pieces. When finished, I'll ask nicely, if there is someone on this site who could do a few clear vacforms for me, pretty please........but that will be a while from now.
Glenn

Tophe

[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Mossie

I do like that Glider, your on fire at the moment Glenn!

Thanks Mossie, but where would I find a fireman this time of the day?
Anyhow....today I'm back with the P-402....with a rear view.
Glenn

Brian da Basher

Thanks for the bonus shot of your magnificent P-402, Glenn! Looks like it would've been the terror of the Pacific!

Brian, the pilot would have to yaw the aircraft evey couple of seconds, to see over the engine narcells. Anyhow, it would have used more fuel than a MiG 15!

Anyhow, today I'm back with the glider, with the under view. It has two wheels, one for landing and the forward one for stopping it going over, also there are outer wing supports at the tips, and a tail support..

One other thing, I've finished the FAA 262 jet fighter.....so that can come off the list.

Now, with the shot today, I could throw some story about the Germans taking over Europe, after Hitlers' death.....but we've all done that, bought a T-shirt.....so, this is a FW Project 'Alpha', of 1946. Used a KP Yak 23 (I think) anyhow the Russians probably used German designs to build it anyhow, so this is full circle!
