Tophe

After working on her for two months, enough was enough! All I have to do is to add the decals...reg and Reindeer emblem on the tail.

Uh, do you mean this incredible beauty of yours WAS a Lancaster, in a previous life? (or have I understand wrongly? sorry). It would confirm you are a genius, Glenn...
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Glenn

No Tophe, she's a movie aircraft, scratched from balsa, the Lanc is a different model altogether.
This next shot is the old Monogram Lockheed Super 'G' and I'm converting her to an old Constellation. This was 'in the hard basket' from the moment I started cutting off the excess nose and tail. Old plastic doesn't cut, it shatters!
Eventually, you'll see the shorter model with its 'short' fuselage...'shorter' rear fuselage and 'shorter' wings. A cow of a job, but once all that was done, and thinning out the rear fuselage from behind the wing to the tails....it looked OK.

This is the second shot of the DRAHK Raider from Babylon 5. At this point, both halves have been attached and the second layer added. the forward section is not covered as this is the cockpit (?) and, when finished is an electric blue/green colour. The ridges along the backbone and repeated on its mid sides and then on the under surfaces. Long way to go, but its getting there!

Tophe

Glenn, is the marking below ("Bv-141 pod") related to this model? You know I love asymmetric inventions of yours... ;D
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Glenn

No, sorry Tophe...that base was a photography stand for a model I was doing for the 'What If Asymetric' page before I met you guys. My dad would be proud of me, "never throw anything away!"
Glenn

PS....it was a 141 with the cockpit pod at the end of the starboard wing.

Glenn

Now this started its life as a Heller, 1/72sc Amiot 143 bomber...and as I already had one, didn't want another.
As the model was given to me, I couldn't put me foot through it, it had to be built. Now, the reasons it needed a change...1. it was Heller 2. I wanted to improve the general shape (?) and 3...it was Heller! Its now a 1/48 Fokker Universal B-8D which entered service with the USAAC in 1929 based in Hawaii, Wake Is. and at Clarke Field.
Powered by two Curtiss Conqueror inline engines developing 600hp (each) and finally ending service in 1933 after a forced landing grounded the last model.
If you believe that, you'll believe anything!

I really like the look of this one, Glenn! I've got a real soft spot for those practically unknown inter-war bombers. Excellent work on the rudder stripes. Painting all 13 nice and straight isn't easy!

Back to the Lanc....once the fuselage was glued together, cut off the tail just in front of the tailplanes, and re-glued upside down. Bogged and sanded and then assembled the tailplanes at a slight dihedral.
You'll see!
Glenn

Glenn

Right, now we have the Connie before the 'G'! The problem now is, how to finish her?
Glenn

Glenn

Now Tophe, this is not asymeteric...its just the first step of a twin engine Albatros bomber. After buying two DIII's for their decals I wondered what to do with them? The lower wing is from an Airfix WW1 German model...name escapes me, but its a 'long time project'!

Back to the Rocket Rail from 'The Great Race', and as you can see...she now has wheels! Made a template from plastic and PVC and bog and then had a mould made from it and then the four wheels. She's shelved at the moment.

Mossie

The missus will be upset when she finds you've stolen a certain item from the bedside drawer.....!!!
:o  :o   :o
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Glenn

Mossie....that was classic!
We're back with the Lanc...but now I've changed her name to Avro Essex. I did this for two reasons ....
1. Its an English county
2. Essex was one of Elizabeths' great 'Seadogs' and a fine seaman..(hope that's spelt right?)
The Essex is now a long range ASW aircraft....more to follow.

This is the Seamew. Originally a Veron rubber band flying model...now static. Looking very close to the plans, this model was a must to my collection. Scaled at 1/32, the fuselage is of balsa ribs and stringers and covered with the thinnest balsa and sanded down. The cockpits have floors and the rear, side panels but this was taken a month ago.

Now, I bought this model 'cause it had a pilot (or two) as I needed them. The bonus was, it carried French markings as well which I used on the B-28. So, what to do with it?
Would the Germans have used them? The USAAF?
Glenn.
