Looks great in that colour - it does look rather Soviet. The one thing I could think of to make it that little bit more Russian would be to add wing fences. It looks lovely as-is, though.

Are those stars hand-painted?

Arrowski - NICE!  That cockpit framing looks particularly good!

Might Mo: One small point if I may: arn't those Goalkeepers a bit close to some VLS cells? You could see them losing their search radar to blast if they were pointing the wrong way at the wrong moment.

Sprukidd: As a modelling project, shouldn't it be called the Sprue Kid?  ;D....  Looking Good.  Mk.26 launchers could actually fire ASROCs as well as Standards, but the refit would be expensive so just replacing the Sea Sparrow with one still makes sense. With two two directors (Mk.51?) aft, plus the forward Mk.60 (which can function as a backup Standard channel) it would actually have more capability than the real Kidds which were a bit light on radar.

On a point of order, Knox class frigates also had an ASROC magazine, as did a couple of the Garcias.

Thanks for the comments on the Arrowski - yes, Pyro, I did those stars by hand.  Started with the red, edged it in with the white, and took gray to trim the white down to the thin sharp lines.

The principle of wing fences might be interesting, and I could have put those in off the dogtooth if I'd thought about it, but I wanted to go with a rather unmodified concept of the aircraft, save the improved vis cockpit, replaced radar and the additional R-60 hardpoints under the fuselage.

Yes, the aft goalkeepers are a little close in principle to the aft VLS, and as such Might be subject to some blast problems, unless properly fireproofed etc, or else their systems are redundantly wired to operate off the search radar and other systems so that in the event of launch-burn they aren't completely useless.

True enough, in hindsight, the forward launcher could be a mk26, I wasn't quite thinking purely on the ball, the mk26 magazine would also have probably a higher capacity for ASROC missiles on hand.

Didn't know that about the Knox, but hey, cool to know.

You know the arrow looks the most soviet of any western aircraft.

And yours looks great!

Alright, here's another update.  While I took a momentary break in construction of my Arrowski, I actually did the nose section of my Super Alicat here, pretty shake and bake, nothing too fancy, just a little paint over the stock plate IP's which isn't really visible, the Iranian Camo, and the IRST ball off a MiG-29 glued in place on the nose.  Today I got into serious work, assembling the core of the Fuselage, which required a little clamping, and I popped the engines off my Su-34 and not only dry-fit them to test, but once I realized they went on SEAMLESSLY into the TF-30 mounts, I glued them on and felt like taking pictures.  So, here I show them now.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Thanks, guys.  Yeah, Ed, I'll MAKE it fit.  Clamps first, then PSR when that fails.  I was quite surprised at how smoothly the AL-31's went into place, almost like it was MEANT to happen.

Why do these kind of things never happen to me? I always have to fuss and fidget with everything to make it work  :banghead:

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Actually, the forward Mk.26 magazine wasn't as big as you'd imagine because they left enough room for the cancelled 8" gun in A-pos. Your Mod also allows the Tomahawk boxes which wouldn't be possible next to a Mk.26 (I think...).

The give-away when looking at the earlier frigates is a sloping front to the bridge: the pre-Spruance ASROC reloaded at a slight elevation. I think they only had one reload as well (i.e. 16 rounds in total), because the end two boxes were initally configured for nuclear ASROC and then for Harpoon and they're usually specified as carrying four of the latter.

"Zipang" is an anime series.  The premise is that a modern JMSDF destroyer is transported through time back to WWII.  The ship, the JMSDF Mirai is a derivative of the Kongo-class DDG, with different weapons (JMSDF doesn't really have Tomahawk).  The destroyer also carries a nifty two-seater tiltrotor gunship.  Pit Road have done the ship in 1/700 and 1/350.  See here:

I suppose the pic suits a russianised F-14 - "In Russia, we make model do what wanted!"
