Some year ago I began to think in this project, then I posted some of my ideas. One of you, I think Geoff or Thorvic (btw, I do not know if they are the same person or they have just the same christian name) recomend me to use an F-5 as aft fuselage donor. Then I did not have that bit in my spare box and tried with a F-15 1/144. After more than one year looking at the think and feeling bad, I decided that Geoff or Thorvic was right   and I had to begin again :banghead: :banghead:

Here you can see the ongoing project compared with an unstarted Gnat model.

I'm going to be watching this one Carlos

Another possible kit for some the of the larger Gnat derivatives is the Hasegawa Grumman F11F Tiger.  It's similar in shape & proportion to the Gnat, just larger.  Don't mean to hijack your build though Carlos, I'm looking forward to this as a fan of all thinks Gnat-ish!

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Neat idea!

Funnily enough, I've been looking at the gap between the trailing edges of the wings on my (Gnat-based) Avro Atom project, and wondering if, and how, I should twin-engine it. The F-5 rear fuse trick would probably work, although I think I'd have to turn it upside down to match the high-mounted tailless delta. However I've decided to stick with a single engine, at least for this version.

The only other small twin jet in this scale i can think of is the Matchbox Fiat F-91Y which aint that easy to find these days unless as a Japanes import.

Another possible source coulf be 1/100 twin jets (1/144 is probably a little too small for the job), however finding only the Hornet and Tornado may fit the mark as most other twin jets are the later split engine types or blended wing types.

Look forward to seeing how this build progresses Carlos

Thinking in engines ...

Was RB.153 used by any real aircraft?
Does anyone have information on RB-153 dimensions?

Thanks a lot in advance.

You may find this site interesting if you havent already found it:

http://www.vectorsite.net/avgnat.html

At the bottom it has a small bit on the unbuilt variants.  BSP: Fighters has a few pages on the 'super Gnat' variants too.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Ah, now you've entered the fun stage of Whiffery --- PSR.   This should look pretty good when you get it done.
