FFA P-16 Whiffs

Hi folks,

I was recently reading about the Swiss FFA P-16 of late '50s (the father of the Learjet) and wondered about the whiffing possibilities if it had made it into service.  See here for more info on it, including the possible developed versions with different engines:

AA-7 - SNECMA Atar 9C engine
AJ-7 - General Electric J79 engine
AR-7 - Rolls-Royce RB.168 engine



Possible operators if it had gone into operational service:

• Switzerland - obviously!
• West Germany - apparent interest shown;
• Spain - apparent interest shown;
• Japan - apparent interest shown;
• Spain - apparent interest shown;
• Portugal- apparent interest shown;
• USA - attempts made to market to for use in Vietnam as a ground attack aircraft in a similar role to the A-7s;
• Other NATO - one stage was considered possible NMBR-1 contender;
• Austria - my idea;
• Sweden - my idea;

Also, given it's strong construction and short field capability, what about a Carrier version - maybe then RAN, RCAN, Indian Navy?

Bumping an old topic with a new question:  Has anyone ever built one of these?  I'm thinking of using a Lear-jet as the obvious starting point + possibly a Hawker Hunter.  Thoughts?  Suggestions? Warnings?

No real help for 1/48 builders, but S&M Models do the P-16 in 1/72 scale. I have one in the stash, and rather tasty it is as well...

Do S&M have their own website?  I'm a tad hesitant to type their name into a search engine at work.
