"Long Tall Sally" sounds a terrific idea.
A friend had a go at a "Lily"....edged in gold...a Gilded Lily.

A black & yellow striped 'tiger lily', flame job 'fire lily' or maybe a version converted to a post-war airliner, 'Peace Lily'???  Lily has a lorra potential......
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Okay, "What If" Mr. Seversky stayed in Russia and Mr. Polikarpov went to America, but Mr. Kartveli still ended up working for him.........

You know, what, it must be real, because Hasegawa do a kit of it!

That's a good point, Rad, you could do any of Hase's Egg Planes as 'Short' aircraft.

Cheers folks - high praise indeed for 20 mins work...... ;D

HOWEVER, bear in mind that as I was doing it, I was thinking "Christ - this would NOT be straight-forward kit chop!" Both sections that I removed (between engine and wing root and between wing root and rudder) were severely conical. I had to deepen the cowling by about 25% to get it to match up and move the canopy forward by almost it's own length. The upper rear decking only matches up because it was the variant with a fin fillet and I re-drew the belly from scratch. The intercooler and exhaust vents and the tailwheel bay were all re-positioned and re-profiled.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!  ;D

Since the regular A-7 was nicknamed the SLUF (Short Little Ugly 'Fella' <ahem>), how about:

What was that factory shortened 747?   Do it as fat boy AWACS eh?

Somebody I know is taking two 1/48 Hercules kits, removing a length out of one and adding it to the other for a LittleCleez and a BiggerCleez. (Bruce Craig formerly of www.f84thunderjet.com fame)

Factory shortened 747 is the 747SP (personally, I think that designation should be for a 747 in Southern Pacific colors, but that's my fondness for railroading coming out).  I could see that as an AWACS or as an "AIr Force Three-Quarters".
