Well, I have not done a great deal of model building for the last week or so, what with going back and fore to my mothers house and to the hospital, but the little bits I have been doing to my current what if plane are coming along quite well.
I decided to keep the Vigilante that I had up for sale/swap and upgrade it a little. It now sports a longer nose section, about 1 cm longer, with a F-18 nose cone replacing the original. The single tail plane has been replaced with two from a F-14, and it now sports a gun port and 2 extra pylons.
I am going to put a pod on the chin also from a F-14 along with a Lantirn pod behind the nose wheel or perhaps to the rear of one of the air intakes.
The engine nozzles have been replaced by 2 from a sukhoi su-27, so they stick out that bit furtherto look like bigger more powerful engines.I was tempted to blank the arrester hook off, but then thought better of it. I am considering arming it with one of several different weapons loads I have chosen for it. I have four ALCM's for it, or 6 SRAM's 4 Hapoon missiles, 4 SLAMER 2 sidewinders on one of the outer pylons, and maybe a HARM on the other.
The shape of the aircraft to begin with looks newer than it is, and now with the new nose and tail wing configuration, it looks like a cross between a F-15 and a MIG-25!! I will take pictures as and when I can get round to finishing it,as I don't want to rush it and spoil the appearance.
I am going to paint and mark it in modern US Navy colour schemes, quite possibly in a 2 or 3 tone grey camo.
The dogs philosophy on life.
If you cant eat it hump it or fight it,
Pee on it and walk away!!
