apols if this has been asked before but could the czechslovak AF flown Ju-88's immediately post WW2 instead of soviet Pe-2's?

i have a ancient airfix Ju-88 which i'm building at the mo' with a solid nose [housing several MG and two cannon] from the new airfix Me-110 kit.

this i'd quite like to put in czech markings as say an 'Avia-S198' or something from about 1947.

The Czechs flew a lot of ex-Luftwaffe post war so a Ju 88 isn't too far a stretch.

More likely to be a Letov than an Avia - Junkers utilized the Letov factories in Prague and the Ju 290 rebuilt post war by the Czechs as the Letov L290 Orel.

IIRC, the Pe 2s were to replace the Mosquitos - the Russians had ordered that they all be burned.

Interesting fact:  the Czech Mosquitos were fitted with ex-Luftwaffe armament.

Reviewing some Ju-88 models (all 1/72), I saw that: Old Revell model is more accurate and detailed than old Frog model (which in the beginning I considered better) when comparing with Italeri's.

I took Italeri Ju-88 as a reference. Was I wrong?

Frog Ju-88 has deeper fuselage and longer cockpit than Revell's or Italeri's.

Yes.  The Italeri one has undersized u/c nacelles and nasty rivets. Can't speak for the Frog kit, but given it's age, availability of better kits and the fact that it's worth more to collectors,I'd give up on it.  The old Revell oneis best fit for the bin - fuselage shape is all tocock and it's really rivetty.

Go for the nice shiny new Revell one, failing that, the Zvezda kits or if you have a kidney or two you'd like to sell,the Hasegawa kit.

Second that. The late Revell kit is an excellent choice if you are looking for a bomber with the classic galls house cockpit. The Hasegawa kits are IMHO not only totally overpriced (but the market seems to yield it?), but also not the best kit in itself.

It's actually the old Revell Ju 88 kit, re-built with lots of cosmetic surgery.
